Is 1866 secure?

I recently tried to sign up with 18866, I noticed on the site it is not secure when you enter your credit card details.I have always thought it is unwise to use a site which is not secure. Can anyone help?

I see what you mean. It does say: "All information submitted is secure and encrypted using SSL-Technology", but I too would be fairly reluctant to enter my card details without the padlock showing.

I noticed this but thought with the number of people on MSE that are using it, it should be ok. I signed up with them earlier in the week and all so far. Call costs so far 13 pence instead of 77pence :)

I would advise anyone signing up to keep an eye on the CC they use to make sure its all ok.
Looking to raise some money ;)

seems like they spotted it too https://www.call18866.co.uk/signup/ certificate valid from 24th of this month. Usually if you add the "s" to the http part of the address you should be able to bring up the secure version of the page (that is if they have a secure server running).
    ummm...
  • what do you mean ? do you mean 18866 have realised that it is not a secure site-what do you mean when you say certificate is valid from 24th on this month ?
    sorry for sounding thick
tried the link but doesnot seem to work
