Pop them in some hot water.
(it will soften them, but they may end up red:))

    PS,

Don't walk out of the office and say you are just going to empty you plums.

some of these suggestions are ridiculous.

Being rough with the plums will bruise them which will also speed ripening.

But then you have a bruised bit.

So, Graham, are your plums juicy?

(I think actually you've all just sunk to my level...;))

They will be once I nurtured them enough. Just hope the juices don't dribble down my chin when I finally get to savour the goodness. I'll have to suck as I eat to prevent that misfortune I think :)

(Am i sposed to take any of these suggestions seriously? I now have one of my plums next to a banana, in the bath, with warm running water and I'm slapping it around a bit).

What about popping them in your mouth to soften them up. (not yours specifically but the owners. err dig, dig.)

    _pale_

    Graham no need.:)

But the hot water one is true and not a torture. You can do it with all soft fruit. :)

Both of my suggestions are perfectly legitimate. If people choose to see them as otherwise there is litle I can do about it.

Putting them in a paper bag might also help.
