Marks and Spencer has reported sales growth ahead of expectations in the three months to 27 March.
M&S's UK like-for-like sales, which strip out the impact of new store openings, increased by 5.1%. Analysts had forecast a 1.7% rise.
Nice to see consumers starting to spend again.
Over 3 times better growth than forecast.

Watch out for the annual early Decmeber retail warning and then the 'surprise' lift reported in Jan - happens every single year.
I've noticed the same thing with fairy lights draped around trees. Watch out for December each year and you'll see loads of them, then they all disappear in January. Happens every single year. 'Tis very strange.0 -

M & S news is indeed good. Its interesting the whole M &S thing, and why, I suspect, like woolies, its suggest media interest. Unlike, for example, the card shops that closed down. We've pretty much all worn pants from M &S at some time or another. For me its like housing market, which we all interact with in someway: and is a way to try and understand the bigger picture.
