I felt like telling them to stuff their card too but a credit check had been done so I may as well accept the card when, if ever, it arrives.0

Yes - after more than 3 months, i'm still waiting for my card...

I popped into my local HSBC branch on Monday, as I thought (correctly as it turned out), that the deal would end at the end of January.
I went through the application with the member of staff at the branch, with her entering information on the computer there and then.
It got to the part where she asked whether I wanted to tranfer an existing balance. I said, yes, a bit less than £15,000, and she said, oh, we can only offer up to £2,500. I don't know if applying on-line would have given a chance at a higher limit. I don't think they had checked my credit reference agency details at this point, and I got the impression this was all the branch could offer.
Anyway, this morning, 2 days later, my card arrived in the post!
Cheers,

Any of you guys above actually bank with HSBC?
Applied for the card before end of Jan deadline, on a pre-approved form sent by them.....just waiting now, so wondering if it makes a difference banking with em.Bless Martin's Little Cotton Socks. I thank him for giving us MSE. Look what its grown into!

Not at all. Husband has an account with them, still took 2-3 months!0

I don't bank with HSBC.
Signed up in the branch on Tuesday 1 Feb for a card I applied for well before Xmas. Card arrived today with 6 months at 0%. A quick call has reverted it to 9 months from the date the balance transfer hits the card.
Apart from the miserly 2k limit I suppose they can't be fairer than that..0 -
I bank with first direct (part of HSBC) so this may partly explain the speed of the process for me.0

Similar thing happened to me - applied 14/12 - same black hole and eventually went to HSBC branch where they found 4 applications. Operative processed on (£500 limit) and then guess what a week later two cards arrived one for £500 one for £3500. Cancelled first and done my transfers. They will arrive - I suggest a visit to the branch with passport, etc and they can look at their computer system...0

As reported on the other, older, thread ["New HSBC card - and it's a goodie!" I think it's titled] -- the best idea is definitely to apply in-branch. If you go equipped with relevant proofs & i.d.s, then your card will often arrive as quick as 2 days after applying - as has happened to one or two above posters and also my wife. Shanks's Pony is the answer!Expect the worst & hope for the best...0
