Changing provider to Sky?

Options
I'm looking at changing my broadband provider, i'm currently with Tesco and in the last 2 months the speed has been slowing down from 1mb to .5mb at peak times (I only pay for a 1mb service). I've contacted their customer service and they can not find a fault and say there is nothing they can do.

I'm now looking into getting Sky Unlimited as they can supposedly offer me a faster connection for a cheaper price without any 'Fair Usage Policy' which most providers seem to have. Their speed test shows I can get upto 8mb.

Now i've read lots of bad reviews about them, but I have also read bad reviews about every other provider. Going by all the reviews it seems to be that every broadband provider are useless.

Can anyone give me some advice on their service and speed, are they any worse than your average provider?

Do you already have a Sky TV subscription?
Is your exchange LLU'd for Sky?If not you'll be on the dire Sky Connect (non LLU) tariff.

No I do not have a Sky TV subscription, but I would be looking at taking out a package including Sky TV so should be able to get the Unlimited option.

Bear in mind that you can't have the broadband or phone service without the Sky sub, so you are locked in to Sky-even more so if they have LLU'd your line.
You didn't reply about the Sky LLU on your exchange?

What do you mean by LLU'd? I have a BT landline if that is what you mean.
I have run the broadband test on the Sky website, and it says I should be able to receive between 8 and 10mb (that will remain to be seen) and that I can choose from Sky Broadband Base, Everyday or Unlimited. So I am looking at possibly going with Sky TV, and Sky Broadband & Talk.

Local Loop Unbundled. OK, so your line will be LLU'd if you go to Sky.
