Orange Reception problems - my rights?

Hi all,

for the last 3 months (actually some minor problems since last September) I am having really big trouble with my reception on my HTC Hero. Its mostly my gf who calls me, but friends and family have confirmed problems with reaching me on my mobile phone.

What happens is simply that calls are not going through, although the phone is next to me with full reception. Calls go straight to the answerphone.

This happens at home, at work, while in the car (hands free ;-)) but the thing is: its not always happening. Obviously when Orange tries to call me, it works  but they have realised the problem and I am already using a new sim card. They have reseted all divertions and set answerphone to max call time, but still shows no difference.

I am well at a point where I am seriously pi*** off!

As I am using an HTC Hero, I think that you would realise that I am actually not after canceling my contract, or getting a new phone. In fact, getting a replacement would make things worse, as I need to transfer all my data, which I dont really want, but I am getting at a point, where I tend to formaly complain about the service.

And dont forget the call I have to make with my landline... although I got 30 free Text message, which I dont use anyway (hate texting...)

I wonder if there is maybe an Orange representative on board to help/guide me?!

Markus

Hey Mic2904 - I'm having the same problem with my Orange phone.

Calls going straight to voicemail despite my phone having full reception and me sitting right next to it!
Texts not delivering to my phone until hours after they were sent etc

I have emailed them, saying that this is not the service I expect from one of the UK's top mobile provider... and basically they replied saying "turn it off, take the battery out and turn it on again". V helpful!

I wonder if anyone else is having the same problems and if anyone has any views on what our rights would be??

If your in an area with faulty 3g masts this may account for the problem. Mobile phones prefer 3g signal over 2g even when 2g signal is stronger and more reliable.

Try setting your phone to 2g/GSM only and see whether the situation improves.
