GOOGLE and tabs

Done exactly as you explained, twice, it makes no difference, from a link in an e-mail it still opens in a new tab at the end of the open window.
Looks like I will just have to live with it.
It seems that you simply have problems that others don't experience!
It definitely works - why do you think that there is a variable for that particular feature derrick? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I don't know, but as I said, I have done it twice and it does not work, it still does not open in a new stand alone window like it used to, are you sure it does not need a restartDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

You complained that clicking the google results overlays the results page rather than opening a new tab which is entirely different. Mine does the same now and it is annoying. You used to be able to set [FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]"Open search results in a new browser window." at http://www.google.com/preferences but it doesn't seem to be honoured any more. If you click using the mouse wheel it will achieve what you want though.

Thanks
Clicking with mouse wheel, for example your link in your post, does still gives the "problem", i.e.it opens a new tab, (not window), next to the tab of the page I have open, if I click with mouse wheel on a link in OE e-mail it just gives me the black arrow up and down heads, i.e. does not open the link.
Clicking on links in e-mails, up to a couple of days ago, resulted in a new window, when I finished with that window I clicked the red X top right and it closed, obviously doing that now results in the warning pop up "do you want to close X amount of tabs".Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I deleted that reply because I realised I'd got confused over what you wanted. I initially thought that you were complaining that clicking a google result overlaid the results page.
To get a new window rather than a new tab click Tools/Options select the Tabs pane and uncheck "open new Windows in a new tab instead".
If it isn't that then I'm flummoxed.0 -

OK, now the weird thing is, I had that option for ages , hence why I posted this morning as it wasn't working, and checked it this morning and it was unticked, I since ticked it and obviously it would not work, I have just again unticked it and now the window opens in a new window when clicking a link from an e-mail.

That's just the computer fulfilling its Prime Objective - to confuse and annoy every human it encounters. This is the one (and probably only) thing the wretched things seem to achieve perfectly.0
