Can anyone recommend a good/reliable broadband provider, offering an unlimited download plan on a short contract (<6 months).
Or any to avoid?
So far I'm thinking of Be, but 3 months notice is kind of awkward, incase I extend the lease, etc.

Depends what is available on your exchange?

Not sure what to look for? The exchange ID is CLBIS.
I know that Virgin doesn't supply cable to the street. Is this what you were after?

On Bishopsgate you have a wide selection of LLU providers-look at the column on the right for your options.

If you can get O2 with the mobile discount and Quidco cashback,, even if you 'waste' 6m subs it will only cost you £45.
If you are in Spitalfields, the reason some streets were not all cabled is that the house cellars run under the streets, the foundations are 500 years old, and NTL did not want the risk of possible damage claims had they started digging there. I recall they did commence cabling there, but abandoned it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

You can do an 'express cancellation' on BE when your initial contract period is up, it costs £40, but means you can give 10 days notice to cancel.
I would second your initial thought of going with BE as a very good short-term unlimited broadband provider.
Be aware though O2 may be cheaper - they don't offer the alternative short-term contract options like BE does. So O2 is 12 months minimum.0 -
Agree with MacMan - sometimes it's cheaper to get a 12 month contract and pay off the whole thing rather than springing for the hardware/connection fees etc which usually come with short-term contracts.
Plusnet have a no contract option - you have to give 10 days notice but there aren't any penalties - they're only a repackaged BT service but they have good prices and great customer service reviews. Zen broadband also have a one month contract but they're more pricey.
Also, as useful as Samknows is, if you want to bypass checking every provider they lists for short-term contract options there's a postcode search for no contract deals here: http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/compare/broadband/no-contract.asp0
