Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 7th April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning peeps
couldn`t sleep so i find myself on here
i woke up at five to three and couldn`t nod off again so i got up and got ready for w*rk and i`ve been twiddling my thumbs for the last 20 mins or so. Can`t do much at this time of day without waking DH up so i`ve put the wm & dw on and thats about it really.
One more early shift to go after today then i`ve got a couple of days off :j i`m so looking forward to getting some bits and bobs done in the garden. DH is off for one of the days with me and we plan on giving the kitchen yet another coat of paint, we discovered that the paint that we have already put on isn`t very washable and thats not good enough with two houndies. We shall have to but some of the expensive stuff too as the only colour that we have lurking about that actually is washable is ecru
The kitchen is only small so any darker colours will make it look even smaller so white is the way to go.
Diva - Thinking of you today ! Seems strange without you here to start the thread.
Taplady - Your new top sounds nice, think i`d better get some new clothes myself. We had a good clear out before christmas and now i`ve hardly any clothes left  How`s your DH?
Jellybaby - Hope that your kidneys arn`t giving you too much jip today, congrats on the business :j
Well its 5am and i`d best set off, imagine being late after being up so early :rotfl:
Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning sunnyday and all those who follow
I can't sleep either
Diva - hope all goes well today x
Bitsy - I don't have any patience at all, I just can't flat ice very well so had to hide it! :rotfl:
NPM - hope the rest of the week is better for you and that you can go and see the cats
OH has just informed me he's invited his parents here again *sigh* so that is going to make for a difficult week in June. I feel awful because the first thing I did on finding out was to look and see if there was a conference around that covered those dates. It was not a good experience last time. I hate watching them snipe at each other all the time
I am about to eat cold pizza for breakfastDinner today will be pork that I picked up cheap last night and I want to put some braising steak the slow cooker to make cornish pasties. I seem to have a swede glut too (sadly not the cute blonde type) so I might cook one of those to add to the mix too.
I have a day making flowers. Meh.
Have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning Sunnyday, celyn & all to follow.
Sorry about the inlaws Celyn, would be my worst nightmare.
Been up since 5am when a work call woke me, the driver who had the accident last week got in the lorry and couln't drive. Feel so sorry for him, it wasn't his fault just purely in the wrong place at the wrong time. He couldn't get hold of the police yesterday so couldn't find out how the casualty is.
We have also had a driver go sick with vertigo and another is on jury service so we 50% of our staff down! Can't try and sort anything out till I can start phoning people at 9am so feeling aaarrrgghhhhh this morning!:(
Anyway rant over, not too sure if there will be any OS here today, OH will be home in about an hour and then going to bed so I will be spending the rest of the day sorting this stuff out. Have a tesco delivery coming at 10-12. Kids will be told to occupy themselves - not a problem for DS but DD is harder work. We are going to Chessington Theme Park monday, using bogof vouchers from on here and have booked a premier inn for the night before as had gift vouchers so they can look forward to that.
Sorry about the moaning post but there is no-one else to talk to at this time of the morning :rotfl:
Have a good day.x0 -
Morning.
Looks like the rain has stopped and we are in for a few nice days.
I have to get my tackle out and clean it up ready for the first big fishing trip of the year. Could be the best weather day tomorrow and we have a boat booked to take us off the Lizard to look for some cod, ray and plaice.
Ordered the part for the OH car yesterday... ouch! need I say more.
Day off today, messing about with boats, tackle and running kids about I think...
No way of saving money....at the moment, just damage limitation...
Have a good day....;)NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all
Well what a long day yesterday turned out to be, I took hubby to work as I was going for a mooch round the shopping centre & decided to go to the one nearest to where he works rather than just the one local to me. When we arrived at where he works, there was sewage bubbling up through 2 of the manhole covers, it took 17 phone calls & till 10:30 last night for it to be sorted, by then sewage was coming through 7 manhole covers. We finally got home at midnight & then had to get up just after 5 for me to get him to the station. He'll be at work by now & I'm finally getting some breakfast.
Today I need to do loads of washing (including the clothes hubby was weaing yesterday), the kitchen needs a good clean & the grandchildren are coming over so we will walk to the river to feed the ducks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Welcome to the Daily, Lindy-Loo! It’s always nice to meet new people.
Donny-gal, of COURSE you were missed!
Hi Sunny-Girl, thanks for keeping us updated about Diva. I got the WEIRDEST sense of D!jà vu when I read your second post. Very creepy…
Ivyleaf – my Dad made my Mum a washing line prop by getting a bit of leftover 2x4 and cutting a “V” shape in the top…
NPM – hugs for you. I’m sure you’re doing a fantastic job. I have a labrador, 4 rabbits and an aviary full of birds if you want to bring Noah to see! Although the birds might scare him. They scare most people…
Morning all!
My brain’s very confused about what day it is – I keep think it’s Thursday. I neglected to put the bag of stuff for the charity shop out yesterday and I nearly cooked the wrong dinner last night! My monthly meal-plan is very precisely worked out, so that I have leftovers on the right days, so cooking the wrong thing could be a disaster! Sometimes I think I need to get out more…
I finished my last April Birthday card last night (took me AGES. I couldn’t decide on a design I liked and kept coming up with things that would work for other people…). Next job is to finish of mini-books that I’ve started as gifts for people, then I can make the May cards. I’m feeling very motivated at the moment so I need to make the most of it.
Tried to pay off my loan last night but I’m getting the feeling they don’t want me to. Everytime I ring there’s a reason why I can’t do it (like “we don’t do transfers at the weekend” or “we don’t do transfers after 6”. So why are the ‘phones staffed at these times?!?). Anyway, will try again today. Between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
OS today… pancakes for breakfast using LO mixture, HM veggie lasagne for lunch and Pasta Bake for dinner. Ebony-Bunny is going to the vet for her vaccinations tonight so must resist the urge to buy fish and chips! Need to do a load of laundry and clean out the bunnies. Oh, and walk Puppy-Dog.
Love and hugs to all in need,

I also cleaned out my car (travelling dustbin) yesterday and managed to pull my back so work last night was a bit slowfelling a little sore this morning so as its raining Im going to take it easy and make some purses I enjoy doing
.
I have a nice piece of beef in the SC and will do my lot a roast today.
DD must be mad, she asked me if her friend and her could camp out in the garden sometime this wk :rotfl:

I was given another slow cooker yesterday :j a 6.5l one that DH's cousins wife couldn't get away with so she gave it to meSo as DH said last night 'we are now a three slow cooker family' :rotfl:

Morning All,
Early post today as I have a lot to do. First I have to get DD to work and then into our local town. I need a few bits to take me back to work, and need to get my eyes tested as I am sure my reading persrcription has increased. I have a voucher for a free test and 500 nectar points:money:
I then have an appointment at work to discuss my return and what hours I will do etc. I am hoping to pop into the office and see my second in commannd. Big Big Butterflies today.
N9eav the fishing sounds fab. We ar hoping to go for a weeks fishing at the next half term. Both my DH and DS3 have birthdays around then so it is usually their presents. Not sure where yet but need to get something booked.
I also need to pick up a couple of thank you cards for people at work and a birthday card. Then tonight its WW:o not expecting good things!
So must get on but will pop back later and catch up

Morning all, looking a bit overcast this morning.I just have to drop DGD Katie at her part-time job at the Dockyard this morning. Then a very quick trip to Tescos and then back home and coffee with eldest DD and at lunchtime I will be taking the four youngest DGS to see Nanny McPhee at the cinema.DD has to work today and son-in-law has a meeting so he has to go in.I don't mind as I get to spend time with the four men in my life ,albeit they are quite young,14,10,8,&5 they are good fun and we do have a good time.I have my friend arriving from Dartford tomorrow for a couple of days so I must organise myself so the meals are sorted as we are doing a bit more de-cluttering of my spare room now my computer room is finished. So this week is going to be a busy one.
Fingers crossed for MSD will be thinking of her today.and <hugs> to anyone who is feeling a bit below par .well I'd better get a wriggle on and have some breakfast, porridge should keep me firing on all cylinders today I need an energy boost as I will be rushing a round a bit this morning.Take care all
