Broadband with non-BT line?

Wonder if anyone can help? Having been with Virgin for a year because I baulked at the cost of paying BT installation fees, I'm considering using Primus, who charge £70 apparently for line installation, and would have line rental with them. However, having scanned various broadband providers I'm worried that ones such as Bethere Broadband who are also pretty cheap don't let non-BT line users join. Is this correct? If so is there a broadband provider that would let me use Primus line rental? Thanks in advance.

If the Primus line is LLU, you can't use it for any other provider's broadband.
Have you considered getting a BT line for the current offer price of £29.99?-as long as you are OK with an 18m contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've spoken to Primus and they use BT lines. However, I've spoken to BE Broadband and they say I must have a line with BT (renting direct from BT). Slightly confused... what is the different who I rent the line from, if it is a BT line?
I think the whole 18 month contract thing and paying more per month puts me off re-joining BT.0 -
Whoever you spoke to at BE has got that wrong. If the line is not LLU'd, then it's BT, regardless of who you pay your line rental to.
For example, I have O2 broadband (same network as BE), but pay line rental to TalkTalk-however it's a BT line and not LLU'd to TT.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Ok, Im so pleased this has been asked as I was just about to ask.
I have just signed up with primus but Im also wanting to change my broadband providers too and they are asking for a BT line.
So are Primus just using BT lines and I can still go with the new provider??0 -
I've spoken the BE Broadband about this and several call agents have been very definite that they will only provide broadband to people who have line rental with BT. Doesn't matter if you're renting it off a company using a BT line, they will not accept it...
Plusnet do £49 installation and total cost of £17.74 per month for phone and broadband. Customer reviews aren't particularly encouraging though.0 -

Since you are presumably going to sign up online to get the cashback, I suggest you put your phone number into the BE website checker. If it its not an LLU line then it will accept it for broadband as a BT line-assuming you are on a BE enabled exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Have you thought about the Post office?

£110 installation for a new line and I believe the line can be used for normal BB.
There's also a phone line checker and no minimum contract period.0
