Selective shop entry!!

Hi all,
My fiancee recently tried to book an appointment at a bridal shop which we would be near on only one day in the next few months. However they replied by email to say that the day she wanted to go on (a sunday) was reserved for customers from other countries!!
I realise that companies can reserve the right to serve whoever they want. However, can they choose who can have an appointment on a certain day based on which country you come from?
Many thanks,
Matt

weird, unless its something like its for polish and only staffed by polish staff on a sunday?0

It is indeed weird. No intention whatsoever to spend even a single pound in their shop. However, that doesn't mean I'm not a bit annoyed about it. Plus tempted to suggest she sees it through just to annoy them - then don't spend anything!!
I didn't think you could discriminate by race - correct me if I'm wrong.Just started comping - 1/12/08 - keep your fingers crossed!0 -

There are a load of exceptions to the Race Relations Act so don't start quoting anything until you have the full facts.0 -
I suppose if they only serve people from other countries on a Sunday there must be a very good reason for it as it seems so strange. I would have been intrigued to ask them why? I doubt there's much you can do about it, unless you phone up and say you're from another country

Sounds a bit odd but I'd guess there are some cultural type reasons involved. No idea though!Would be interesting to find out.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0

I know of a private healthcare facility that gives priority to weekend appts for those travelling from overseas and others travelling from a distance. It is not for discriminatory reasons, but it makes business sense to reserve some appts for those that cannot make it during the week.Gone ... or have I?0

rereading your OP and as a guess based on the fact that you only specified one date to the shop I would suggest that the date you specified had been completely booked up by one wedding which was taking part in the UK and the bridal party was from another country who needed the whole day to pick outfits for the bride and bridesmaid. Thats just pure speculation but I find it unlikely that a business would only allow people from another country to shop there one day a week! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
