Hi Everyone,
After 2 weeks of trying to get an actual working TV and internet connection with Virgin I've come to the end of my tether and asked the operator honestly "Is this service that I've had over the last 2 weeks normal, if so I would like to cancel my service tonight as I can't just keep taking time off work and putting my life on hold like this", and I received the most honest answer yet in two weeks of trying to get a straight response, that being "I'll just process your cancellation now" He did cheekily tell me that I'd have to pay a disconnection fee:mad:, to which I reminded him that I only signed up 2 weeks ago and I hadn't had any service yet.
So anyway my point, who should I go with? My situation is I live with 4 others, we all have laptops requiring wireless access, my flat is spread over 3 floors so I'm guessing a specific type of wireless router may be required for good coverage. We'd require unlimited download and a fairly fast connection to keep us all happy. And after the hell I've been through in the last couple of weeks I would like to sign up with a company that has actual customer service, poorly trained call centres based in other countries just doesn't cut it and I've already wasted some 5 hours in the last two weeks on phone calls and engineer visits (or lack thereof).
A TV connection would be good but I'm sorely tempted to just get a freeview box and be done with it. I'm also guessing now that I've cancelled virgin phone that I'll have to get a phone line in just so I can get broadband.
Anyway any suggestions or favourable experiences will be most welcome.
Thanks,

ADSL broadband requires a BT based phone line. Even if your Virgin phone was working, you couldn't get any broadband other than Virgin on it, because it's delivered by VM cable.
So until you get a BT line in, your only broadband option is Virgin.
Your broadband choice will be dictated by what is available on your exchange, you need to look at the LLU options for the best deals (especially if you want an unlimited service):
