can any one tell me why every time I switch on my old computer I have to update all the time & date details etc.? Have tried changing the battery.

    The BIOS battery will be dead, this is a small lithium battery on the motherboard. Should only be a few quid to replace.

    its normally a CR2032 its silver and about the size of a ten pence piece
    obvisiously make sure PC is off it should just pop out with your finger nail

    I think they have different standards in terms of current, etc, but I'm not 100% sure. To be on the safe side, just replace it like for like, it should say on the existing battery what kind it is.

    Edit: Apparently, they're slightly different sizes, the first two digits is diameter and the last two are height/thickness (both in mm). http://www.swcomputingservices.com/batteryorder.html (link for information purposes only, not recommending them as a retailer)

    CR 2032 is 20mm diameter and 3.2mm thick

    The 2032 looks like this, cost about £1, should get one locally, pound shop,
    Or £5+ if you get one at a Ford dealer for a Transit remote. :D
