Anybody got anything good to say about Talk Talk??? Please!!!

Hi everyone,
I feel so annoyed, I love this website but at the moment I'm so angry at Martin's apparent money saving tips. I have read numerous posts about people's dealings with the free broadband offer from Talk Talk.

I thought brilliant it will save me £17 a month on my current broadband and telephone package with NTL. At the moment I've not started the sign-up procedure with Talk Talk as I'm still tied to NTL but since Martin gave it so much hype I recommended it to my mum who has never had internet. She thought it would be brilliant as she pays £20.99 a month to BT anyway for her calls and she would get free broadband.

I only joined her up on Monday but after reading all the bad posts I feel really guilty. It appears that I may have commited her to a really bad contract. My mum has 2 people on her street, 1 an existing Talk Talk customer and the other is new to Talk Talk and they both have their free broadband and are really pleased with the service. Is there anyone else out there who are connected and have good things to say about the Talk Talk package, please.

Thanks,
Kirsty

I am interested about this too. Am with talk talk on free weekend package but am thinking of getting the broadband saving money by using library at the moment.

There was a programme I watched the other night, very interesting, about broadband.

You can watch it online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/programmes/?id=money_programme

Cant blame Martin for it, its ultimately you that makes the decision at the end of the day, he's just weighing up the costs of whats involved with the service!

I have not had any problems so with the broadband or phone, however there are a few major grips, Trying to contact them is a bit of a nightmare, The communication telling you when things are swopping over or activating can be delayed, example only new my phone was switching because got a letter from bt, talk talks welcome pack arrived two weeks later after the switch. Broadband received letter saying I was live, took 4 weeks for modem and welcome pack to arrive. Good job Had other equipment, would have been very angry if I was a new user to broadband though.

All in all everythings working, even though it took a while.

I've heard the horror stories too, and I am waiting for my switch over date at the end of the month. Already changed the phone line with no problems

All this furore was the same when the first non-pay dial up services were launched. They became massively over-subscribed then fell over, lol.
Carphone Warehouse are a reputable company & I'm sure things will settle..after all if they don't they'll go out of business & I'm sure that's not in their business plan

For what its worth CS at BT isn't exactly brilliant & I'm paying 30 quid a month for broadband alone with them!

At the end of the day it's 21quid a month for phone & broadband..you pay for a mini then don't expect a Rolls Royce :D

Talktalk have received a lot of criticism on this board, but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience to me?

Now I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, which is why I'm absolutely thrilled that TalkTalk connected me to the broadband service more than three weeks early. Modem arrived yesterday, username and password today.

Anyone else been connected early? I guess it must have something to do with the volume of customers in each telephone exchange area or similar.

    Cheers and take care.

Did you transfer from another provider?

My go live date was Sepetember, and there activating my broadband now according to the tracker, after a mess up with my MAC Codes, they pulled there finger out.

Be interesting to see when I go live!

How you finding the TT Broadband?

Nope, I'm a new customer who took up the free broadband offer.

So far so good. Just transferring my router and other kit from the other line (we have two, TalkTalk is on the second).

    Cheers and take care.

  • any ideas what sort of speeds you are getting?

do you know if you are connected on BT`s exchange or through talktalks new equipment.

i know talktalk get a lot of stick on these boards but i am a very satisfied customer (phone approx 3 years, broadband approx 2 years) i have only had a couple of evenings downtime and my monthly bill is fantastic!!

if you can put up with non existent phone support and fix any problems yourself i think talktalk is the best deal out there.
