Could I ask how long you've had the card, and what your original BT fees were?
  • At least the BT fee is still capped. This is valuable when you're moving large amounts, and some lenders (Egg anyone?) now don't cap. Oh yeah, and then charge interest on the BT fee as if it were a purchase - which Virgin don't do (or certainly didn't used to!).

I agree though, slippery slope down which all lenders seem to be happily throwing themselves.

I am about half way through my second 0% 9 months on the card. First 9 months was totally fee free, second one cost £35(think) bt fee.

Thanks for that mattbass. I'm on my second 6 month repeat (1st 9 month BT free, but next 2 both had a £35 fee). I'll expect the same letter shortly then!

I've read your posting with interest, but why don't you transfer you'r balance to a different card. For example: The Post Office credit card with O% on BT's for 6 months and no Transfer fee?

There are different terms and conditions for different MBNA cards. Some people have a cap at £35 or £50 which is soon to increase to £75. All new MBNA cards are 3% with no maximum.

Thanks for the tip. The balance on the virgin card is just one of several involved in multiple transactions built up for the purpose of stoozing. As is the balance currently being transfered to the post office card from nationwide. I was lamenting the fact the this card may play no futher part in the transfer merry go round. If you are not familiar with stoozing you may wish to read here.
