Not withdrawing is hardly the same as overpaying!!

-£4BN is paying it back :money:. HEW is negative it is being paid back faster than withdrawal.

    http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/statistics/hew/current/index.htm
The Bank of England estimate for HEW for 2009 Q4 is -£4.0 billion. The negative figure implies that individuals injected a net total of £4.0 billion into housing equity in the fourth quarter. That compares with a revised estimate of a net injection into housing equity of £5.1 billion in 2009 Q3.

Look in to it a bit Graham rather than having a knee jerk.

And yet strangely, Porsche haven't felt the need to reduce their prices to a level where you can afford one.;)

Pretty sure there's a lesson for you to learn in there somewhere......:D

Porsche ownership is a basic human right, innit!

*stamps about in fury that the baby boomer generation can afford a porsche but I can't. Damned greedy boomers!!!!*

When you look at pornographic material more frequently does that increase your likelihood of getting a wife?

I would say the more !!!!!! you look at means your chances of being in a relationship are lower.

I dare say the highest rate of !!!!!! searches are of those without girlfriends and wives.
But, you get the idea just the wrong way round (But thats a different search) :)

So you could use it to prove something that corresponds with use, perhaps we need a to$$ometer.

Whilst flippant, you successfully underpin point regarding the lack of fairness of those who have profited from inflated property prices.

That goes for baby boomers, so-called property developers and estate agents too by the way. It's all unearned paper "wealth" based on speculation and laziness.

And most people don't want a Porsche.

In fact, most people might like to buy a home just like their parents were able to.

Your parody of the frustration experienced by the disenfranchised young is yet another "let them eat cake" rant.

Any article that uses the word "could" so many times is just speculation.

In my experience, going through the hassle of looking up mortgage deals is something you only do when you're actually trying to buy a house, not for cheap thrills on a weekend.

Exactly. Sticking with the comparison of looking at cars, it's easy to say that constantly looking at what is out there and what the prices are is one thing, but going on to actually investigate finance packages and how to fund the purchase surely shows serious intent.

This is so unfair, let's do an HPC and all go on strike from buying Porches until they price them at a level that I can afford. We can start a facebook page and everything.

My parents worked in a time of huge industries (ship building, coal mining, engineering) with large workforces, strong unions and final salary pensions. I work in a time of weak unions, small niche or specialised industries with no final salary pensions. I used to rant about this I decided that it was a waste of my time, and sorted myself out with my own pension. That was then, this is now. Those times won't be returning, they're past.

At some point you have to stop moaning about the unfairness of life and just get on with it. I reached this point last year. Clearly you're still on the road to Damascus.
