Surely you have the same risk with a cash card as you would a debit card? The money leaves your account instantly, so I don't quite grasp your logic?0

To answer you question Moniker I know of one account that offers a cheque book and £250 guarantee card only. It is called The Albion Cheque account operated by The Leed Building Society:

Need to keep a minimum balance of £2500 in that account.0 -
No you don't actually. You just don't get any interest if the balance falls below £2,500. At least you can't go overdrawn on it though!0

See the bit in bold.Leeds_BS wrote:The Albion Cheque Account is as easy to open as it is to operate. You can open the account with a deposit of £2,500 (which is the minimum opening and operating balance for the account) or more, either by post or at your local Leeds Building Society branch. Cash transactions can’t be accepted on this account (one of the reasons we can offer higher interest).0 -
Well if the OP can maintain £2500 minimum then it could be an option for them.
Makes a nice change for a current account to not focus on the overdraft but instead requiring miniumum balance funding. More of these responsible banking tactics wouldn't go amiss from other providers.
I bet their customer service is good too and not farmed off to another planet.0 -
Living in the past - why not deal in gold coins, or try bartering as a form of exchange.0

Well the cash card can only be used to get money out of a cash machine whereas a debit card can be used almost anywhere to pay for goods and get cash back - so more opportunity for misuse if it falls into the wrong hands IYSWIM.

Too much time on your hands, do you start your car with a handle at the front?
Actually I didn't know you could access this web site with a typewriter!0
