I am looking for a bit of advise on in car Sat Nav units. A relative is looking to buy one. I know nothing about them and he knows even less! It needs to be very user friendly as he is not the best at operating new technology. Can anyone recommend a good unit for me to have a look at? Or one's to definetly stay away from? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.:o

I bought a Tom Tom ONE for £230 from Comet. Very easy to use, and a real life-saver since I got it.
Check out www.pocketgpsworld.com for loads of information on SatNavOf course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
i bought a garmin i3 when they came out a year ago.
it is very easy to use. the screen is clear and easy to follow.
you can update the unit via PC (usb) to include lists of "points of interest". these POIs include traffic camera lists which help with avoiding the old gatsos.
the only down side was the windscreen in my car (renault) has some reflective cover on the screen (as do most french cars it seems - not sure about other makes) which means the gps reception was also non-existence. i bought a seperate plugin antenna (about 20 quid ) and took it to my local car stereo/phone kit installer man and he went "oh yeah you need to stick the antenna up here by the rear view mirror as there is a special gap in the reflective cover for sat navs".
He plumbed in the wires behind the dash direct to the battery and i wouldn't be without it now.NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"
DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."0
