Yeh. It was a few days away for MIL with grandkids. Plan was we were dropping them down Saturday and then coming home Sunday and then going back to collect them on Thursday.
MIL doesnt drive but having been there before we knew theres (usually) plenty to keep them all occupied.
As it was, once we found out what was going on we had to stay a bit longer. To be fair to butlins staff, they were amazed that the caravan owner hadnt told us about this.
After speaking to the owner yesterday, he EVENTUALLY agreed to a refund but he wasnt happy. He insisted we had to leave straight away though - no apology or leave when it suits you.
Personally, I would have felt guilty if it was me and I knew there were kids coming and that all the entertainment was off. Thats the older generation for you though!!!
Dont think they were short of a few quid and needed the money. Caravan was immaculate and very nice and obviously had cost a few quid and they also owned another one they rented out there (andf hadnt told them either).
I can foresee some hassle in the next few weeks for this robbing git because hes not told anyone and admitted hes rented them both out for the next few weeks.
It cost me £280 so if he doesnt cough, I'll be taking a drive to Merseyside to pay a visit !!!!0 -
I am really gutted for you. Even if you had only paid 50 pounds, I would`ve still been gutted for you!
I really hope you at least manage to get some of the money back and hopefully, get to put it towards another holiday later in the year.
Good luck.
Plan is to book a week there in the summer. Will cost more but there we go.
Pity the owners of this caravan cant be trusted though because the caravan was really A1. To be honest though, I'd rather not line his pockets.
He wasnt sorry at all for the grief he'd caused, just sorry he'd been caught out and that hes got to cough up !0 -

No, it was on the spring harvest website

This has been taking place for years. I'm glad you got the refund. He really should try and get some contacts with some christians who go as I'm sure he would get full money and a very happy family if he could fill it with a family who want to go during spring harvest.0

You cannot book for Spring Harvest dates on the Butlins website.Gone ... or have I?0
-
yeah, was going to say that you can't book those dates with butlins so the thread title is a bit misleading, maybe: beware - dont book a private caravan at butlins cos spring harvest is on these dates'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Yeh. But I'd never even heard of Spring Harvest before! LOL
Maybe Butlins should have put something on their website too.0 -
True. How do I edit the title?0

Well cheque turned up which is good news.
He couldnt resist sending a note also where he says that hes disgusted that he as, an old pensioner, was spoken to in this way. Basically, I think he means that my wife had the nerve to complain about it and didnt back down when he started shouting down the phone. And that he got caught out.
So, still no apology or anything but a result. If I ever book a caravan at butlins I'm gonna phone to make sure all services are normal.
Apparently, hes reporting our behaviour to the caravan association too.
For the record, we left the caravan in an immaculate condition because I didnt want to give him anything to moan about. (Also, I'm not the sort of person who'd do that sort of thing).0 -
