Depends hat they are - meaty sort of scraps can be frozen and used as toppings for JP's or lunches ... veg I use for bubble and squeak ... mash potato I use to make tuna fishcakes... gravy I just reheat and serve up again :o Some veg gets served again next day ... pastry scraps are for jam tarts ... pie filling scraps I use as a pasta sauce ...

I just think 'what can I do with that?' makes for some dodgy stuff sometimes but it does help x

    HTH a bit

It might be to someone else!
Our food is always better for DH as its more of a surprise (even though planner on wall!) and he hasn't cooked it!

OP also check out weezl's thread for cheap meals!

True! Guess it's not exciting for me as I have to cook it all! I do love reading the weekly meal planning thread as I love seeing what everyone's eating and it does inspire the odd variation for us :rotfl:

There are some good books aroound on frugal cooking which include what to do with leftovers, etc. Probably worth a visit to the library for lots more ideas. Can also often find good economical cook books in charity shops, particularly the Oxfam bookshops. Library a better bet this month tho' as even charity shop will eat into your food budget x

  • We will have a similar month in March as well what with Electric Gas (DD) and car (M.O.T and Tax.)
Just hope it passes the M.O.T. otherwise got to find more money from somewhere:eek:

So I have been checking my freezers and cupboards and thankfully I won't need to buy much apart from, Milk, Eggs, fruit and potatoes.

Got loats of Pasta, Rice, Bread flour etc so won't need to buy any of that or bread.

Luckily we did a big Freezer shop this month. Oh well needed to clear some of the old stock out and hopefully April will be a bit better.

So I am working on my meal plan now.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
