can I just let people know what happened to me on ebay. Was bidding for a baby walker and went to put in my maximum bid of £10. By mistake I put 10,00 instead of 10.00 (comma instead of full stop) my maximum bid shot up to £10,000 and needless to say I won the said item for over £30 which I did not want to do. Ebay are not interested in the mistake and the seller does not reply to my e-mails so I guess I am going to have to pay this to keep my good name on ebay. Just watch that full stop.0

For future reference you are able to withdraw your bid up to 12 hours before auction ends and resubmit it purely to cover this sort of mistake. If you bid within the last 12 hours and make a mistake then it can still be withdrawn but only within 1 hour of the bid being placed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. When you check a seller's feedback, always read their negative comments, even if there's only one or two. It'll give you the best idea of what might go wrong.0

There are some excellent tools on toolhaus.org that allow you just to check the negatives and neutrals.0

Can you do this yourself (and if so, where), or do you have to contact Ebay to withdraw the bid.0 -

You can do it yourself. Just go to your bidding page and instructions are on there by the bid somewhere. However remember bids should only be withdrawn for a valid reason and the number of withdrawn bid s made in the past 6 months is shown on the users feedback page. (or at least it was, goodness knows whether it is still there with all these changes).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd not heard of Gumtree before - sounds good and looks easy to use so I might try that out. Has anyone actually used it as a buyer or a seller?
I don't see the point of using qxl instead of eBay - it does have a cheaper fees structure but both cqout and eBid are much cheaper because they don't charge to list or relist.
Watch out with cqout though as it has much stricter rules than any of the other auction sites and charges an automatic £35 fine for infringements of the rules (i.e. your guilty until you prove you are innocent - no I'm not speaking from experience here LOL!).
Anyone searching Google UK for 'online auction' will find eBid, then cqout, then eBay.
I have used gumtree before and yes it is really good. Get for freebies aswell :j0/2013
