Bed-wetting problem
Comments
-
Keeping him out of my bed is difficult due to my mobility difficulties, as is constantly returning him to his own bed.
There are towels, blankets, absorbent pads etc under everything, but he moves a lot and likes to sleep on top of the duvet some of the time.
We've tried the nappy on backwards and different styles of nappy and pull up but not found one which comes up high enough.
I like the idea of the back fastening sleepsuits but he would need 3-4 year old sized suits, problem is that by that age they're expected to be potty trained so the clothes are designed for 'easy access' which is exactly what I don't want LOL
(I'm considering superglueing his bits together at the moment, he's poorly and sat on my lap having a cuddle and I've just narrowly escaped being doused... again...)
Am i assuming there is someone else there with you at night?
You say we've, so could that person not put DS back to bed and do the bed training if you are not able to?0 -

Yes there is a 'we' as I have a carer living in at the moment (I refer to my husband in some posts but we are separated) but he can cry for hours at a time and there's a baby in the room immediately above (single mum with 6 kids) and 5 kids in the room next to it with no door between. We're the ground floor in a converted house with NO sound insulation, so long term screaming is not really an option atm. I'm hoping to tackle the bed sharing problem at my sister's (detached!) house later this year. He really is a most incredibly pig-headed child, but I love him dearly
Poppers wouldn't last more than a few minutes and if he can't get it out through the top he reaches in through the side.
Love the look of those sleepsuits, maybe I could chop the arms/legs shorter? £24 is a tad pricey but think what I'd save on the leccy and water bills!
P.S. I just have the one at home atm, it's the lass upstairs who has 6 and she and the kids are lovely and I would feel awful at increasing her workload by keeping them awake.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Without wishing to upset you, it seems a bit extreme behaviour tbh, like he's got into a obsessive habit of doing it, but he's young to be so fixated on doing something so often. What does your health visitor suggest, has he had any developmental checks - the not talking yet and the crying for hours? Yeah, yeah, I know he's a boy and they're fascinated with their penis (and never grow out of it) but I've had 3 boys and none of them ever did this, they were more interested in their dummies and blankies (and before anyone shoots me down for using dummies and blankies -it's too late, they're grown men now :rotfl:and no it didn't delay their development). There's enough washing normally without having to deal with loads of extra bedding every day with your mobility problems too. Hope you find a solution soon OP

Yes, he's been/being assessed, we (family) have been pushing the not talking for nearly a year now and his case went to the MAT panel a couple of months back and the CAF panel a week or so ago. He is obsessive and single minded (but no dummies or blankies for him, he spat them out in seconds and is happy to take a different toy to bed every night). When we say he's very hard work we always get told "oh yes, 2 year olds, well you expect them to be xyz" and then they meet him and have to agree with us - Gemini is a most appropriate birth sign. At pre-school they say he's lovely but... poor lad, even when he hugs someone he's so strong he knocks them overEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

my sis in law suffers from dyspraxia, and when she was little MIL had so much trouble trying to get her diagnosed it was unreal.. they all kept saying the same, oh its her age, what can you expect, but she showed the same symptoms your son is, and she is so strong that a simple cuddle and kiss of the cheek has left me badly bruised as though id been punched?
MIL really had to fight to get a proper diagnosis though, hope you get something sorted. Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Now that's really interesting. DS1 is officially mildly dyspraxic (gross and fine motor skills poor chap) and dyslexic but I'd never thought of DS2s behaviour as being in a similar vein. I had actually ruled it out because his agility and spacial awareness are awesome but it's a really good point because that spectrum manifests in such a variety of ways. I always think of my boys as totally opposite because DS1 had a vocab of 200 words by his 2 year check but at 6 could only stack bricks sideways whereas DS2 could stack 13 small bricks at 15 months and is only just starting to pick up the odd 'normal' word (only used imperatives until very recently). Thank you, I'll raise it with the multitude of 'professionals' he now has chasing after him.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

SIL is scarily intelligent in some ways, she is mid 20's but has always been able to read way above her age from being a small child, but she cant form proper sentences when it comes to speaking or writing.... and is very very naive, but fiercely independent in same breath, yet has no concept of danger etc, she has motor skills probs, and joint problems...in all honesty its only through knowing her over the years that i have really understand what DH told me before i met her.
its very strange how it affects every sufferer diff, and i dont think you can explain it or understand it really unless you know someone with it. No 2 days are ever the same with it. peculiar eh?Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Danger? Pah! he speets in the face of danger...! When he hurts himself he might wail for 5 seconds or so but then he's back doing whatever it was again until he manages to master it.
I started trying to count this evening, 2 black eyes, 2 black knees, a line of bruises down his spine, grazes on hand, foot and knee, assorted other bruises all over shins, thighs, arms, face. It's easier to point out the bits that aren't damaged LOL.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
