JAMIEDODGER wrote:lately ive been aware that some things really have to change in my life. my focus is on my future now and my first goal to be debt free. certain influences in my life have a negative impact on my ability to focus on the things that i really want.
i have made a list of my longterm goals and the things i have to do to reach them. i have been taking stock of my life recently and have made a list of all the things that have to go.
- people who discourage and make negative comments about me and my debt free aims.
- the drink has got to go...i dont drink much maybe not even every week, but i have noticed that drink brings me down and effects the way i see things.
i have also made a list of things i want to do to help me on the road to freedom so to speak.
- keep learning new things all the time
- learn about how to invest my money when i am debt free
- find ways to reduce my budget a bit more and pay off the debt quicker
- keep listening to my motivational tapes to keep me inspired
- keep going with my ou study (very apt as i am doing a course on change)
these are just a few examples of what are on my lists.
i want to be in a really good position financially and emotionally when i reach my DFD next year. so that i can take advantage of all life has to offer me in terms of happiness and financial independance, which i believe are connected.
wish me luck

Nice post JD,
Implement consistently lots of small positive changes in your life and you will see a big positive change.

Yes JD what an inspiring post, sounds like you're gonna achieve what you set out for. Well done!! :T
I listen to Anthony Robbins goal-setting cd's quite often and I think his best advice for achieving your goals is to chunk!!
So you consider every area of your life such as:-
Health
Wealth
Spirituality
Relationships etc
Then on a daily basis you do 3 things to support and nourish those areas.
For example:-
Health (exercise daily, eat 5 portions of fruit, drink a litre bottle of H2O)
Wealth (MSE, save £2, read about stocks and shares for one hour per day)
Spirtuality ( meditate, pray, be grateful etc)
and so on........
What dya all think?

little L, i like that idea a lot!!!
that sounds like a great way to make sure you are taking care of all those areas! and 3 things really doesnt sound that hard does it! i think it all really boils down to taking care of yourself and your body and your emotional and mental wellbeing. great post!!November NSD's - 70 -
You're welcome, it really is achievable as you say 3 things aren't alot.
It's worse when you look at how you don't support those areas of your life.
Such as poor diet, slumped in front of tv, alcohol, OVERSPENDING, arguing etc...
So I hope it helps, I think his methods work really well :T

Hi Guys ,
As you'll all know, if you don't look after yourself everything else falls apart too. Sometimes you've only got yourself to depend on and you need to well enough to do that.
Paulo Coehlo has written some great unusual books - they might not be what you expect but they encourage you to solve your own problems and also different ways of thinking & looking at things, all through a paperback story. It really is good - start with 'The Alchemist'.
I think your post is positive because you've laid out a game plan - make it flexible
- and that takes strength. You've laid out your first steps in taking control. If you're looking to the future, then you're ready to let go of the past. Laying out the really basic stepping stones will be so helpful.
And when things aren't going exactly to plan, you can come here & read these threads again.
If something isn't helping in your life, it's got to go. You owe that to yourself. It's no good complaining about situations if you're not going to bite the bullet & make some changes. Can't take care of the roof if the foundations are shakey. :)We all deserve the best of what there is.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm preaching guys - I don't mean to.:) I'll be thinking of you all."If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'
