Don't forget the beach! An evening walk along the tide line with the sun going down is lovely, and its very peaceful once you get away from the front. We really enjoy blackpool as a day out but there is a time as the evening draws in an the groups drinker come out that it can feel a bit aggresive. Also another vote for the Coral Island amusement with the mono rail. im sure youll have a great time!0

Yes I always book mine in advance it usually is quite a bit cheaper and the dates you want are booking now (off from leeds to liverpool on 12th June so already got my tickets). Also to escape the chips with everything trap what will your 3 year old eat? I always just shared food when they were small and so they'll eat anything (except kids meals unless they are new healthier style ones, carrot sticks & mlk all the way ) Good way to diet too. Have a look at tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g186332-i314-Blackpool_Lancashire_England.html lots more useful info on things to do and places to eat on there.0

As far as I know the Manchester Pub is still open, but it is very renowned for being a bit rough.0

We came back Friday from Blackpool The cafe inside Coral Island are doing a special offer 2 adults and 2 childrens meals for 7 pounds. These were something and chips meals but were very nice.
With having little children if you want to take them on the monrail or 2 kids rides inside Coral Island then you can buy for a 2 pound coin from a little machine kids saver tickets that basically give you an extra go for your money
The Manchester is still open
If you need drink and snacks when out and about theres a Home Bragains and B&M right next to Coral Island that do cans of pop crisps etc dead cheap (I mean really cheap as we got loads to bring home with us)
We went up the tower and had a great time. Have you searched Blackpool tower on ebay to see if anyone selling any cheap tickets?
Once your in the tower it all free. My 2 loved Jungle Jims and the 3D show.
We has snow and many cars had to be towed off where we were staying so pack warm gear and sadly the trams werent runningMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
Is it true you have to pay to get into the Pleasure beach now? If not then its worth a stroll round, plenty to see, the odd ride, a quid or two in the amusements. If not then take a stroll along one of the piers.
Also, I think it'll probably be too early in the year, but last year (I think it coincided with the illuminations) there was the Fireworks championships each Friday night - at the North Pier I think. We went a couple of times, totally free, some spectacular displays...0 -

£5 to go into Pleasure Beach and wonder round, but you do get the maze, train, monorail and access to the shows.
September is the world championship fireworks however the formatting may be changing this year so it is held over one weekend rather than several Fridays.0 -
Loads of great suggestions thanks! I'm half and half on the Manchester as I've heard it's rough and, what with it being the World Cup this year, (I wish I'd thought of that when booking!) I'm a little concerned that it's all going to be Stag parties and football hooligans!
I love the tripadvisor site-very helpful re hotels etc. Moominmamma-where do I book the right train tickets online from? I know that probably sounds really dumb but I don't usually do trains and wouldn't know which train companies website to go on etc! Also, my 3 year old's quite picky so was hoping for some places that had a bit of everything-maybe chips as a last resort!
Narabane- very helpful to know about the b+m bargains, there's one near me so I know they're great value!
Thanks again for everyone's great suggestions and help!0 -
Just came back from Blackpool, we also stayed in the Travelodge South Promanade, the Manchester (upstairs) was open, nothing startling, lasagne, steak pie, burger, sausage and mash, etc some meals only £2.99. Was really quiet when we were there so can't really comment on being rough. There was also another 'family friendly' bar place, nearer to the Traveloge, think it was called 'Tommy Ducks' or something, same idea 2 meals for £6.95. The last time we were in Blackpool we ate at Frankie and Bennys and also Two for One, but they were abit further away, beside the Odeon cinema http://www.mypubheaven.com/swifthoundblackpool/food
but we were staying at the other Travelodge South Shore so was just a short walk from there.0 -
Hi,just remembered it was Blackburn we changed at not Preston. Don't know where your traveling from but I always use either the trainline http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/default.aspx or eastcoast trains http://www.eastcoast.co.uk/ to book my tickets. Being mid week should'nt be too bad on the stag front. We always go to Blackpool between Sunday and Thursday if taking the kids.0

We are going to Blackpool from 8th-11th June but we are on a tight budget. We are staying in the Travelodge on South Promenade (We took advantage of the £19 room offer!) and we do have a couple of activities planned but we would like somewhere to take the kids in the evening to eat (Ages 3 and 8 months) that serves something other than fish n chips (As we'll probably eat enough of that during the day!). Something like a Pub meal would be fine. It needs to be child friendly though and not too expensive. I also want to stick to the Promenade if possible as I don't want to get lost anywhere!:o
Also, if anyone has any ideas for cheap Blackpool tower/Pleasure beach/Sandcastle etc tickets, I'd be very interested! I'm a newbie to travelling with kids so any advice would be great. Thanks a lot and sorry for the longish post!0
