Sky HD TV + Sky Freetime + O2 home broadband.

Options
Hi guys, need help again :j.

Just moved home, need broadband, phone line (just for BB) and TV.

Been thinking about hybriding as above.

Built a Sky package online (via TCB) as follows:

Sky+ HD, Variety pack, News & Events Pack, Sports pack. Got Sky Talk Freetime included free and also got Broadband base thrown in for free.

Total cost monthly £47 (£37 for Sky, £10 for HD pack).

HOWEVER, I removed the Broadband base as I can get O2 Broadband for free (part of my retentions deal) and I need unlimited downloads as I watch tennis and other stuff online.

Does this sound like a good plan?

Decided to mix it up this way cos I presume the SkyTalk is compatible with O2 BB and therefore I don't need to get the BT service.

My local exchange is ADSL2+ enabled and has both Sky and O2 LLU in addition to BT. Max my area can get is 4mbps according to both BT and O2.

What think ye? Good plan?

But if Sky LLU your line you can't use it for O2 broadband?

Thanks macman. I assumed that Sky use BT.

Thought that since I'd be using O2, they would LLU it instead of Sky. Have I got the whole thing wrong?

I'm now thinking of doing this instead:

BT line rental + O2 broadband + Sky TV (no HD as I don't have an HDTV yet).

Don't wanna jeopardise my O2 BB to save few pennies with Sky Talk!

    Any suggestions welcome.

But you said Sky are LLU on your exchange? So why do you assume they'd use BT?
Use the Sky checker, if they offer you Sky Connect then that's non-LLU, the other packages are LLU.

I only wanted Sky for the phone line and TV. I assumed that if I did not put in a request for Sky BB that it would not matter ie they would do nothing fancy with the physical line at the exchange.

This LLU thingy is brain racking. I thought I had it figured out.

Is your exchange definitely LLU for Sky? If it's not, then the issue does not arise.

  • I just realised I was looking at it all wrong. I hadn't factored in the Sky line rental. I'll need to add £11 on top. I assumed it was included in the offer because it saysk 'sky talk'.

Sky Talk is the call package, not the line rental.

  • Thanks mac, I 've decided I'll take Sky+, BT line rental and O2 broadband. Simple and should be sweet.
Saves me faffing about with LLU/HD+/etc. And cheaper too!

  • Few more questions:

    1. Can I take BT line rental and Sky Talk freetime (offered free with Sky TV subscription)?

    2. What about PlusNet Value BB + BT line rental + Sky freetime?

    3. Is the PlusNet Value BB unlimited overnight? On their website, only the Premium package seems to have overnight unlimted usage.

    Thanks!
