advise with applying for a credit card

my 0% period is coming to an end this month, and i have 4k on my a&l credit card, which is about to shoot up to 16.90%

i waited patiently and applied for a barclaycard (no bal transfer fees) 2 weeks ago, and i was accepted... BUT those *nice guys* only gave me £950 credit.

i hadn't planned for this. so i'm thinking, apply for another credit card (even if its 0% for 6 months, or a low rate one) and shift as much as i can of the remaining expensive debt.

what i'd like advice on is this:
i applied for a credit card 2 weeks ago, so i presume my credit scoring file will have been searched. is it a bad idea to apply for another credit card (i was thinking virgin card) right now? will the recent application affect my next application? and if so, how long should i wait before applying for another card?

thanks in advance
:)

Don't waste a search on Virgin. MBNA run both this and your A&L card so, even if you are accepted (highly unlikely), you won't be able to transfer your debt. Check out who owns who at https://www.stoozing.com/cards.htm

Because Barclaycard are known to be fairly strict with credit limits, and if you haven't been searched for anything else recently, I'd be tempted to make another application on the basis that anything is better than nothing. If this application fails, I'd wait 3 months before trying again.

Whether you go for 0% or LOB is down to you.

Obviously I know nothing about your situation, so anything you do must be your own decision. This is not advice.

A&L & Virgin credit cards are managed by MBNA. I think you cannot make balance beteen the cards.
