:spam::spam: i was just wondering if anybody else has been experiancing annoying unknown pone calls to there landline number?
over the last few months i have been getting phone calls that come up on my caller display as "international"" unavailable" and "withheld" they are driving me crazy never any messages left, im registered with TPS and have been for a number of years, could it because of the credit crunch that companys are getting desperate to sell you there products and services? and dose anyone know how to stop them they are driving me crazy, any advice would be most helpful

  • Yes I have. The international one mostly. I just pick up the phone then walk away and leave it.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I've also been registered with TPS for years but recently have started getting more calls. If there's a way to block the ones that get through to answer phone, or just hang up as you answer (usually bots dialling them) I've no idea and would love to know myself. If I do get to speak to them I either just tell them I'm registered with TPS at which point they either apologise or hang up in silence, or sometimes I wind them up by asking loads of questions back before telling them I'm with TPS - childish I know but it does give me a sense of satisfaction lol

I filter my calls now with truecall, I got fed up of marketing calls they just dont listen to you when you tell them to leave you alone

I haven't had any calls since, that said only had device for a few weeks, usually get marketing calls in blocks then goes quiet then back on again

I refuse to conduct business with companies who dis respect your wishes to leave you alone hence why I left talk talk recently

Companies calling from overseas are not subject to the jurisdiction of the TPS, and so registering with that will not stop them calling you.

A device which 'intercepts' incoming calls and allows through only those from numbers you know - see HERE.
    Manufacturer's Description

No more nuisance phone calls, TrueCall stops nuisance calls, but lets your family and friends straight through.

TrueCall is the complete solution to all types of nuisance phone call - telemarketing, silent calls, calls from overseas call centres, fax calls, robocalls, market researchers, offensive or threatening calls, misdials, wrong numbers and recorded message calls.

It's about the size of a paperback book. It plugs into your phone line at home and checks every call you receive before letting your phone ring.

Many TrueCall features require your network's Caller ID (available free from BT, but may be chargeable from other providers).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you are registered with TPS it is useful to register with FPS as well (Fax Preference Service) you don't need to have a fax machine. I was plagued by faxes during the night until I did this.

Its not the nuisance call that annoys me ,

its the fact they argue back and insist your'e wrong when you say that they dont live here ,or when you ask what they want to talk to my wife about they PUT THE PHONE DOWN ON ME !

What happened to the fun i used to have of "Yes, ill just get her " and leaving them hanging

Told one guy "you ring every day" and got into an argument that he,himself had never called my number before therefore i was wrong

Five times last week they put the phone down on me !

Im furious whats this country coming to

    Come on phone.... ring!
