Damning for me. They used that as proof of me being guilty they said. However I argued they did the process wrong as I should have been presented with all evidence prior to the disciplinary meeting.
I should hear from the solicitors by tomorrow, they really are dragging their feet. I shall be complaining to the insurance company if they do not respond soon. Half of me would be tempted to write to your colleague, and tell her that under no circumstances did you ever disclose any private/confidential information to her, so you were very surprised to hear that she'd been telling everyone that you'd told her this, so you will be taking this matter further, and it will probably require her to appear in court and swear under oath that she was told this information by you. Not sure if this is the best course of action (probably not!), but my initial hunch is that the colleague got fed up of being made to do both jobs whilst you were off sick, so took action by lying.
I personally would not contact the colleague under any circumstances otherwise it could be construed as harrassment.
Have you got a free law centre near you that you could access?

Thanks Jan .... its horrible. My phone has rang 4 times to day with jobs as I have my CV on monster. As soon as they hear I've been dismissed no one wants to know.

Boopopps you need to be keeping a record of those phone calls because if it goes to an ET and you look at sueing for loss of earnings you can show that you have been trying to mitigate your losses but keep getting knocked backAlways ask ACAS0

Yes, make sure you keep a record of all jobs you've been knocked back from, and the salaries.
In the mean time, concentrate on feeling well, and try not to worry too much. You have a very good case.

First of all I would like to say how sorry I am that you are being treated in this way, I have been in a similar position and it was really horrible so can empathise with you.
Can I ask, do you have to tell potential employers that you were dismissed? Am guessing you are doing this as you cannot get a reference from them? could you maybe say something else as a reason for leaving and get references from previous employers?
I had a similar thing some years ago, I was dismissed but managed to get another job by saying I had been made redundant....

Is it possible to speak to the office manager( of the solicitors and say you are`disappointed` at their poor response and that you need to know this week at the latest otherwise you will choose another solicitor to act for you. Or are you having to use this solicitor because of the restrictions within the policy - if so then contact the insurance people or email and say you are dissatisfied and that you need to progress this! If it's her word against yours, why are you the one being dismissed?My screen is on full view, my colleague sat next to me can see it. I also have to use printers to print it off on that are shared by the office. Not only that I had to share a number of my passwords as dictated by my manager with this colleague to enable her to do aspects of my role. I believe the information was stolen but I got the blame. Its her word against mine and she was believed.
This seems to be the core of the problem. She probably saw the opportunity to nose around private information when you were absent, and accidentally said something that caused a chain-reaction. So instead she pinned it on you.
The person to blame is whoever is responsible for keeping this confidential data secure. If your manager forced you to share your passwords with them, then they are ones responsible.
I would suggest checking if your company holds any logs for when people logged in (very likely they will) and if/when the last person to access these files were. For example, if there may be a log saying the person who pinned it on you, logged in to the account and was looking at salary files when you were not even there! It should state in your companies IT policy what kind of things are logged.0
