Faulty item, but no returns accepted

Excellent. Just grab his full address, and make a report for threatening behaviour to the police. Provide copies of the emails he's sent at the time of making a report. If he is actually a police officer, he'll be immediately suspended. Scum like that shouldn't be protecting us.
Erm yes, but back to eBay - file a claim. That is all.
More likely they're the ones who caught him getting his electrical goods.0 -
Ebay have replied to my email. I have to wait 10 days, then I can escalate the case.0
-
As I suspected he would eventually threaten me with, he's now threatening to sue. He's not accepting the box back and if I do return it, he's going to prove I tampered with it and sue. Don't see how he can prove it was tampered with and who by anyway. I really do believe that he tried to repair it. Says he has proof of power cuts in my area. There was in one area of the town I live in, but not our area, so his "proof" should show this
I know he's just trying to intimidate me, but I'm now dreading opening and reading messages. My partner thinks I should just drop it and get another box.
I've sent the serial number of the box to a friend who works for Sky, she's going to look up the history of the box for me. He hasn't denied that he bought the box from someone else. He just said I can make all the claims I want.0 -
How dreadful. Just ignore him. Deal with the case as per Ebay instructions/procedure. Do everything by the book. Then get your refund and block him.0

Well, I escalated the case yesterday and ebay made their decision today.
I'm not getting a refund.
I'm actually shocked. Not angry, just shocked and really disappointed. I thought about appealing, but instead I'm going to close my account and I won't be using ebay again.
TBH, in the 4 years I've had my account, I haven't bought a lot. I prefer Amazon.
Well, a call to Sky it is then to try get a new box. Unless I can find a way to get into my old box and replace the hard drive. Even my partner can't get into it. Some of the screws are far too tight and we've almost worn them down with trying to unscrew them. :huh:0 -
What was the explanation? Can you appeal? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I would phone ebay and speak to someone about this, and then dispute it! Tell them you've been threatened by this guy!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Why can't you now just do a paypal claim?0
-
How on earth did they find in the sellers favour? Is there an appeal system? Don't forget to leave appropriate feedback.0
-
No explanation, just says:
Final decision:
This case has been decided in the seller's favour.
eBay Customer Support comments:
"You will not be issued a refund."
I'm just going to leave it, my partner wants me to forget it. I was actually feeling ill when I noticed that I'd have a message from him, so I don't want to go through that again. I was stupid anyway as I made two mistakes which may have went against me.
I left feedback the day I received the box. It was well packaged and I was impressed that it arrived the next morning, so I left feedback saying this, nothing at all about whether or not the box worked though. I think maybe this was where I went wrong?? Also, I messaged the seller just over two weeks after the sale. I didn't think this was a problem though as you do get 45 days after the listing has ended if it's a "not as described" claim.
The reason I waited to contact the seller was because at first it was just Sky1 and movies premiere that had the "no signal" problem. I thought it would go away, as we've had that before, especially in really bad weather (weather was fine btw). I also thought maybe the box hasn't been in use for while? So maybe it just needs to be in use for a bit. I know, stupidBut the problem just gradually worsened. More channels got no signal or they got jumpy, now it's searching for listings constantly.
I fix and upgrade my own PC and sometimes friends PC's, so I thought I could maybe fix the Sky box too. I tried the box in other rooms and the other boxes in that room, so know it's not the cables. Tried upgrading software, clean installation, checked LNB settings. I looked up the problem on the net and it could be either the tuner or the power unit. I don't know for sure though so that's when I gave in and contacted the seller.
Thanks anyway for the help that you've all gave me(now I wait on you all calling me a stupid ****)
