My Savings in 3 Weeks

  • I have decided to take up Martins advice and take out a Pruhealth policy for £22.50/month solely for the Canons Gym membership! I have not done any regular exercise now for at least 10 weeks. I have actually lost about 18lbs since September so hopefully the membership will allow me to continue with that as my weight loss recently has grinded to a halt.

    Cheers Martin!

    Well done so far!

Couple of things that may help you:

Join https://www.quidco.com and you can make loads of cashback - PruHealth as an example will get you £115 pure cashback in your bank account (paid to you by Quidco). ALSO PruHealth themselves would give you another £100 in BOOTS vouchers. This is a £215 saving against the cost of the policy and I think for me that means a 'real' amount of £15 a month instead of £34! There are many hundreds of other high street suppliers and online retailers on Quidco, and every time you shop via the Quidco site, you get cashback on everything from CD's to bank accounts. Since May Quidco have paid me over £500, directly to my bank each month.

Join https://www.pigsback.co.uk - everytime you shop with them you get average of 10 points per pound spent - ie: £1 for every tenner you spend. Plus on Mondays and wednesdays you get free 10 and 20 point bonuses just for clicking on supplier logos. I am looking to get the Ta-Dah album and via Pigsback, I can click on the CDWow page and pay just £7.49 plus 200 points for becoming a CD Wow member (=£2) and 70 points doubled (=140pts = £1.40) for this week. This means the CD will be £4.09....

Darn, could have done with this advice before I joined! Bah, never mind! Will look into pigsback.co.uk though, so thanks!

I loved my time at uni so much but when I go back and visit friends I am sort of relieved that I am no longer a student. It was tough at times, especially by the end of the semester like December when you have no cash and cannot afford to go out on New Years!

Anyway, my advice to any student is
1, to check your balance everyday

2, check all Direct Debits and really scrutinize them - do you really need that particular service? Many people do not know who or what DD's they have

3, Pay your landlord a whole semester's worth of rent every term as soon as your loan comes in.
