EMminently let them die down or curl them over in half and put string around them or a rubberband, this lets the nutrients go back down into the bulbs0

Aftercare of Daffodils
Look after your Daffodils after they have finished flowering if you want a good show the following year as well. This advice is for daffodils planted anywhere!
Never cut the foliage off - let it die down naturally, for during this time, the foliage is necessary for supplying the underground bulb with the food it needs in order to start preparing its flower buds inside, ready for next spring. Daffodil bulbs are quite busy little things. You may only see the results in the spring, but much is going on inside of the bulb for most of the year!
Right after flowering, feed the area with a good liquid feed - tomato feed is suitable - over the foliage and into the ground. this helps the bulb to build up the reserves it need to produce flower buds throughout the early summer - but still unseen - inside the bulb!
Remove all of the faded flowers as soon as possible - including the little bulbous seed head that soon forms behind the fading flowers.0 -
Thanks ever so much for the advice and the link Lube - much appreciated. I would have done completely the wrong thing! Thank you

i have another daffs question, so thought i would ask it here! I've got a pot of tete a tete daffs which have now finished blooming. I've cut (just) the flowers off and stuck the pot outside for now, I'd like to plant them into the garden, when should I do it? Now, or wait til later in the year? Should i feed them in the pot in the meantime?
(Also, same question, but for hyacinths in pots!)

If they have finished flowering then I would transplant them now, and give them a good feed so that they can get roots down for next year.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0

I love tete a tetes.
One question OP, where did you get the bulbs from? I know Lincs has a lot of bulb growing farms with daffs - you havent been sold some worn out ones have you

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that if daffs are short of water during the time between flowering and the leaves dying down - usually April to mid June - the next seasons flowering will be reduced. However I can't imagine how this happened last summer!0
