You can check who owns the property with the Land Registry here for £4. It should show their address which hopefully will not be the property in question!

is the property a house or a flat. my block has lots of flats and one management company deals with most of them- i know they have the contact details of most of the landlords not just their own- maybe if this is the case for you they could help?

alternatively do you know which company the house was let through? to let sign etc? of course if it was let privately it will be harder

as GM has said the address listed for the LL might be the same address if the LL has a residential mortgage rather than buy-to-let

what is the tenant doing- it's been suggested on a thread i have that the council's environmental health dept is a good bet if its noise?

    good luck

lol actually thinking about it you might be the neighbour of the subject of my thread

I seem to remember reading info that a landlord isn't responsible for a tenant's behaviour.

If you do find the landlord they may be reasonable and discuss/take action against their tenant to try and find an agreeable solution to the problem... but it's difficult for a landlord to be held responsible for a tenant irritating you on perhaps minor grounds.

A bit like me complaining to your mortgage lender that you park in front of my house ect.

the OP has described the tenant as 'scum' so i think it's safe to assume that the OP is not being irritated on minor grounds lol

    hopefully anyway :)

Even if they are irritated on major grounds - loud music at night, swearing at him in shared corridor, people coming and going at all hours, suspected prostitutes visiting, seen snorting drugs, doesn't mean the landlord has any responsibility to another person in another flat/house, from what I recall reading.

If the tenant is keeping their side on an agreement up with payments and not causing damage to the rented property, certain landlords may be happy to have the tenant with all those things considered. Better than a void. Even if the tenant's actions might be lowering the capital value of other properties in the area (and thus their own) or angering other neighbours.

The landlord certainly isn't responsible for the tenant's behaviour as far as I recall reading to neighbours who make complaints - could be wrong though. In fact there was an instance on the forums not too long ago with the landlord regretting trying to smooth out a complaint about his tenant from a neighbour.

its a house, and the police politly asked him to turn it down, who then while the police was in our house threw something at the back door and shouted a threat. All of which the police heard and warned him again

ok. i can see why you don't want that off your neighbour but if it's a one time thing and the police haven't done anything about it then i don't think you'll get far..
