Seeing all the direct debits race out of my account at the beginning of the month and constantly having to keep an eye on my bank balance to make sure I don't go over my limit! But that is the only thing.

I'm not poor in life, I have a wonderful husband, a good job, my health and a library that stops me buying at lunchtimes when I have nothing else to do!!

  • During the nineties I was unemployed for 4 years and was chronically skint the whole time. So I never feel poor now. In fact, even after all this time, it's a real pleasure to be able to buy things, even a packet of crisps.

i dont consider myself as poor but i agree with what K9cuddles said though, when ive been walking home i feel mightly jealous of people who have nice new cars and really nice houses, while ive got a seven year old banger and rent a room at my mates house.....also feel Jealous when my friends buy new stuff and i sit there and think that if i wasnt in so much debt then i could afford this stuff that there buying. But im ploughing through my debt and i will win :)

The only thing that makes me feel poor is seeing 'amazing discounts' and stuff on cashback sites, that are still well out of my price range. I've asked people for tips on stuff like cheap hotels, and people act like 60 pounds a night is totally affordable, even when you're on benefit.

I want to go away for a couple of days, but I feel guilty enough at budgetting around 30 quid a night, let alone the 'bargains' other people have pointed out for me.

I look at the amount I pay off in debts in a month and think about all of the nice things I could buy with it. Had the same amount of debt for one year, the only way I managed to cut into it was to stop everything haven't bought clothes, gone out. Managed to get another job to pay off extra. As soon as I get paid I pay it off the debt, this way theres no going back. Its been really hard but in a few months I'll be debt free.

Think about how much you spend a month in debts all of it will be yours once the debt has gone.

I feel poor when everyone talks about their holidays and this is the first year ever I won't have one.

yes but how are those holidays being paid for , probably credit card,

we're going away next month , £38 holiday via sun newspaper , same as last year , it will be another enjoyable holiday cos its already paid for and we will do car boots/ebay before we go for some spending money!
