Just been stung £427 for mobile web browsing by Orange after the bundle timed out in Jan how un pleased am I, on top of that due to using the phone n web Whilst on my hols from the 27th of March I have run up a further £103. At no point was I made aware that the bundle ran out i.e letter ,Email or text , So be aware as this happens and you get stung at premium rate.I did manage to scrape a good chunk of my money back and have been reimbursed the £427 bar the call plan but will still have to cough £150 in next months bill.

So take note of your contract end dates especially on the added bundles

P.S The phone tariff stayed the same

I have been caught out by this! Especially when retention deals expire end of contract. Tariff goes up and you lose the lovely free bonuses on your account the day after the contract expires..

The trick is to add multiple reminders in to your mobile phone calendar so you know exactly when the contract finishes. So set a reminder 8 weeks before, another reminder 6 weeks before, I normally ring up retentions at this point to check for any good offers. Then every 3 days from 5 weeks left to end. On most phones it allows you to add fixed period reminders that repeat.

Remember you usually have to give at least 30 days notice if you want leave on the day your contracts ends otherwise it moves onto a rolling 30 day contract. :)

Needless to say I wont be making the same mistake again, but i still think they should inform you via text ,bill or letter that things are about to change, as if i want to close the account and number i have to do it writting a month previous,ie alright for them just to change stuff, but we will make it a pain in the behind if you want to.

I hope you won't be making the same mistake again, in fairness it is up to you to keep track of phone/bank use :o
There is enough opportunity to keep an eye on things via the web, indeed using a phone abroad can prove costly, and depending upon where you went, then it would seem ideal to get a local sim or dongle from the country visited, although in Spain last September the dongle was €40 but included 1gb of fast download, it still worked out much cheaper than web cafes , and certainley my mobile contract , anywhere I travel to I always seek what mobile facilities are available and and what cost, but at least once a week I will check my mobile online to see how much allowance has been used
