Cloudy film on windows driving me crazy

Some of the windows in my house look like they have a cloudy film on them and its driving me absolutely crazy. I have cleaned them what feels like a thousand times. Ive tried using a solution of vinegar and water but nothing seems to be working. Ive cleaned the outside and inside, when up close they look sparkling but when i stand back and the sun is shining in they look like they havent been cleaned at all. Its making me crazy, please can someone suggest something

thanking you

Liquid Ammonia is very good for cleaning windows. (Stinks though)
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Was just going to ask if they are double glazed. Apparently one type of glass that is popular for d/g does give the effect of having a slight sheen to it. It's probably more apparent when the sun is strong.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

It's a coating applied to the inside of the vacuumed panes to reflect heat to keep heat in during winter and out during summer. There are other manufacturers using similar applications but Pilkington's K-glass is by far the most popular. Look HERE at the bottom right of page 2.

An old money saving way that was used with good efect when I was in the army was newspaper.

Clean with wet paper, then buff with dry.

    Still use it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

If you still have the invoice, it's usually charged extra and optional so should be itemised.

From what you've said I'd put my mortgage on it being k-glass
  • They are double glazed, hubby reckons that some are kglass but weirdly enough not the ones im having problems with.

Tried the newspaper thing with no luck.

Where will i get liquid ammonia?

    cheers
