On the subject of Phillips, several years ago I purchased myself a Phillishave (one of the rechargeable razors you can use in the shower etc). I paid about £100 or so for it. After 18 months it broke down and I returned it to Currys where I had purchased it. After a bit of argy bargy Currys said they'd send it away for repair. When it came back I was advised that it failed due to water damage!!! I explained that it is a razor which can be used in the shower etc etc and didn't get anywhere.
To cut a long story short I contacted Phillips directly and they asked me to send it back to them. I was pleasantly surprised when a few weeks later a brand new razor came from Phillips which was a better model to what I had sent back to them. This one is still going strong now.0 -
£250 depreciation in 15 months = £200/year meaning they estimate the lifespan of this TV to be 4.25 years - you're going to be hard pressed to get a judge to give you much more I'd say. you may get lucky and get a judge award you an extra £100 or you may get lucky, say you're a chancer and say you only get £500 plus have to pay the defendants costs. Is it worth the gamble and the time and effort?0

It's good common sense really, you are now likely to go and buy another shaver from them, in realistic terms of cost it prob cost them less than 1/4 of the retail value.Always ask ACAS0 -

I am having a similar problem with Currys and wonder if anyone can help?? We purchased an Advent Netbook on 14/03/09. On 4/4/10 the battery gave up completely. (We actually have two of theses Netbooks, the other was purchased in Jan 09, and the battery that has died is in the newer Netbook.) We called customer services who said basically it was tough and we were lucky to have got 12 months out of the battery! I queried the idea that my battery only had a life of 12 mths and was told that we were getting 'bonus months' out of the older battery. The Netbook with the dead battery has only been used about once a week since it was bought.
Am i wrong to insist that i should expect more than 12 months very light use out of a product??0 -

Yes but batteries are classed as consumables almost as they can go at anytime, you will struggle to get anywhere so its one of those suck it up and pay out times unfortunately. Also, dont go for cheap Chinese batteries as they have a tendancy to explode violently.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
