I have the exact same symptoms you explained, its sooo emabarrasing evey month!!! I dread it, it gives me no warning and I flood, overnight it looks like a mass murder has taken place in my bed!!!!!!
I know what you have been going through. My periods have been extremely heavy & painful. To the extent that coughing/sneezing or even just getting up out of the chair would cause flooding. I use Tena lady, due to how thick they are but these are very expensive and you only get a few in a pack. I even resorted to using Tampons which I hate to hopefully prevent leakages but I found these uncomfortable. I feared going to work for fear of accidents, (have had minor ones).
My periods last up to 7 days and I suffer with periods paid on top of my IBS – not good and also lower a back pains. I am like the walking wounded
Tried tranexamic acid tablets but these did nothing for me.
Finally got referred by my GP and went to see a consultant who gave me all the options – very shocked to read that Dramaqueen was not given these options. I chose uterine artery embolization – shrinking of the fybroids. I only had the operation on the 7th Nov 2010, so it is early days but I am hoping! As my periods were making my life hell. I am hoping that it may in turn help with my weight. Does anyone know if Fybroids have anything to do with weight gain or the inability to shift weight?
Many family members have had fyroids, varying in size and have had them removed– unsure if they have grown back, I think if I remember I chose the shrinking option as there was either no or less chance of growing back and the operation was less evasive.
Reading through the posts it angers me to see so many of you were not given options and that out of desperation you had to choose the hysterectomy route, I am pleased it changed your life but sorry & angry that you were not given choices
Dramaqueen – I note that your appt was in May 2010 – any update? Hope all is sorted for you now.:j BIG THANKS TO ALL COMP POSTERS, MUCH APPRECIATED :j0
