Fibroids!

thanks jojo appreciate it. When you mentioned it I just thought oh they hadn't mentioned that, but I wonder... I am still hopeful that following my MRI he may see that a Mirena might just work and my uterus isn't distorted enough, I can just wish!0

PC - I had a course of Zoladex last year to try and shrink fibroids so that they could get a Mirena in. It did shrink the fibroids quite well - the largest one went from 15cm to 7cm and others shrank accordingly, so they went ahead with the Mirena. The Mirena did lighten the bleeding, which was great as it was REALLY getting me down, but unfortunately the Mirena fell out at the end of last year and I am now waiting to see the gynae to see if I should have another course of Zoladex and then a hysterectomy or a uterine ablation. My preference would be to try the ablation first. I did find that the Mirena made me retain fluid and so gain some weight though... Since I haven't had the Mirena I am back to square one with the bleeding and I am not able to take Mefenmenic or Tranexemic because I take other meds for paroxysmal AF.Jane

Spendaholic Hi again!! Interesting hadn't thought about the GnRHa and then Mirena - you certainly seem to have access to good healthcare, but then by the looks of it you come from the town I was born in!! I was told ablation wouldn't help, but others I know have had them. It really does depend on your consultant's particular pet treatment, IMO!
Spendaholic I have guessed your age from the other thread, In a study, in Japan, when GnRHa was given to women of 47 a third then went into menopause, personally I would prefer that, but I am 44 this year, so not sure if that would happen to me yet. ( not sure about menopause, but it will happen for me sooner rather than later and if it meants an end of this monthly misery, well every cloud!)0 -

The Zoladex certainly didn't put me into the menopause - I would have liked it if it had done!I didn't even get any hot flushes with it! We have a good hospital here (Aintree and Broadgreen) but my GP is a bit rubbish.
Hope you manage to get sorted soon.Jane

I know both Broadgreen and Fazakerley (had an interview at Fazakerley when I was considering working in a Path lab). You never know a second dose of zoladex might do the trick!0

I just had a hysteroscopy and biopsy for suspected cervical and uterine cancer and during that he found fibroids and said he just grabbed them with the biopsy tool while he was at it ??said he is not sure if he got it all but did his best ?
Maybe they could do something similar ?0 -
Hope you get good news skiTTish. hugs. The problem is they can regrow, so it might only be a tempoary respite, but there is a similar treatment.0

well another day still nothing so I ring the Doctors!
im met with the most abrupt receptionist yet again who then informs me oh yes you need a routine appointment with the doctor, I can fir you in on the 28th of this month!!!!!!!! I explain to her that I had the scan on the 29th March, I phoned surgery the following week, (They had the results back on the 30th) and asked what I needed to do and that receptionist told me that the doctor would phone me! I tried explaining this today but she said all it says is that you need a routine appointement and thats the earliest appointment! I pit the phone down really upet as this is causing me stress, I then phoned back to ask to speak to the practice manager, the receptionist (Different one) asked what the problem was I explained all and she said oh its misscommunication but she said sorry I still cant fit you in earlier, I explained Im worried and all she caould say was sorry! So now I have to wait another 2 and a bit weeks before I can be seen by the GP to sort this out!!!!!
Im sooo annoyed and upset and also its the time of the month Im curled up in a ball most nights and yet again clothese having to be thrown away due to amount of blood and feeling so very tired as last blood test revealed anemina!!
