Can you change from JSA contribution based to JSA income based and add a partner to your claim?

yes, although if your entitlement to JSA(c) still exists, then you will receive both as opposed to switching from on to the other0

Will premiums be able to be paid on top of them? my partner is over 60, and the DWP put him on the wrong benefit when he signed on in Dec 2009, they put him on JSA (c) so no over 60 premium has been paid. When he signed on in 2008 for a short time they put him straight on JSA (ib) so he was getting an over 60 premium."I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea

Most people over 60 claim Pension Credit.0

He should still get the higher pensioner premium on JSA so he'd get cont and income based to top it up IF he meets the income and capital conditions. It would be exactly the same amout as if on Pension Credit.
As oldernotwiser said most claim PC. Even if he wants to continue tolook for work he can do but no-one has to sign on once they reach 60I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -
why dont they pay premiums on top of contribution based JSA though? it seems as if the DWP have really messed things up. We have put in a claim for pension credits, phoned up after a month to see how claim was getting on, and he was told because he is getting JSA (c) pension credits cant be claimed as well??, when we were told something completely different when we 1st claimed but we only put in a claim for a top up as a couple, as when partner signed on he only did it in his name.
Seems like the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing!!
So at the moment, all we are living on is partners JSA (c) his small army pension and my wage from a few hours work! Total income £147 pw, and paying rent and council tax from our savings until HB/CTB sort our claim out "I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea

They do pay premiums on top of CB JSA. When he claimed it must have been as a couple because the call centre should ask all the relevant questions. It should have been considered for both income and contribution based at the same time.
It doesn't surprise me one bit that they've cocked up yet again. It's par for the course these days and I can vouch for this because I deal with such issues on behalf of my clients on a day to day basis.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -

He only claimed JSA (cb)for himself wen he signed on in dec, as he thought he would only be out of work for a month. Then DWP advised him in march that he may be able to claim for pension credits, but we are still waiting to hear from them. So we have not been claiming JSA as a couple as yet, which i think we should do.
Getting totally fed up with the situation now, finding it all totally confusing about what we are entitled to and what we are not"I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea

But, as you mention later, he only wanted to claim for himself as he thought it would only be short term - therefore, the claim 'would' only be JSA (C) unless he put you on the claim.Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!0 -
TBH I'd keep with the Pension Credit as at least this can be backdated. To do this he needs to withdraw his JSA claim though. You need to make sure you know what you're doing first so you're not losing out in any way.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0

When he signed on the previous year in which he only claimed for himself as well, they put him on JSA (IB) and got paid a premium. Thats why we couldnt understand why they changed it this time."I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea
