comet and damage to my tv

So all you, woul;d be happy for your goods to be sent off for repair and have the goods damaged when you get them back, its the priciple, why should i be happy. No one would be happy if they took a brand new car into a garage and it came back with a scratch on so why should this be different.
The original fault when we called Comet was for loads of red dots all over the screen, when the engineer arrived 4 days later who wasnt bothered about the red dots issue and straight away noticed some image burn in several places on the screen. On my tv there is a function for whitewash that completely turns the screen white, so as to get rid of any image burn. We only use the tv for an hour or so in the morning and 2 in the evening. On the day the engineer cames the image burn of the time of the bbc breakfast news clock was still clearly visable saying 08.18, still there when the engineer arrived late afternoon. That is when the engineer wanted to replace the tv but on calling his manager he said to put it on whitewash for 36 hours , which i and the engineer thought was too much. He then said that if it went in for repair all they would do in the workshop is put it on whitewash for the 36 hours there..
The second engineer explained that if the dead pixel was in the middle of the screen it would be a straight replacement but as it was towards the edge of the screen it would be repaired under warranty.0 -

So really you've just been looking for a reason to demand a new tv and consequently found this small scratch.0 -
Put the TV against a wall, front side out, it's more interesting and you can't see the scratch.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
After reading this, the OP definitely is a Master Baker.

Spend best part of £600, keep it in good condition and they scratch it, thats far from acceptable. Im calling the MD's office Tuesday and see what i can get from them, certainly wont accept an apology.
You say yourself, it's:
- A small scratch
- On the back of the set
Get a grip of yourself.
Don't you mean 'merchant banker'?After reading this, the OP definitely is a Master Baker.0 -
How big is the scratch? If we're talking a small faint scratch at the back, then accidents happen, although an apology and maybe a £5 voucher wouldn't go astray.
If it's a huge chunk gouged out, then a replacement or much larger voucher might be in order!!
It's nothing like a car scratch, as they will eventually rust, thus needing instant repair. A plastic scratch won't cause any problems.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Can see most of you are of no use at all just want to make stupid comments.0

Lee me ole fella.
You have a scratch......I have just also had a scratch! of my head,im trying to figure out what you want out of Comet.
The small scratch(as described by you) does in no way hinder your viewing, its not something that you would notice because it is at the back of the unit, yet you decide to go to the top fella of comet wanting recompense.
Some people!!Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0
