comet and damage to my tv

I recently had a fault with my tv due to comet customer service telling me to leave the plasma on for 36 hours (which i only did overnight) leaving the tv with a dead pixel when we checked the unit in the morning. The unit was picked up for repair under warranty 3 weeks ago and delivered back to us Thursday. The tv was in immaculate condition with no marks on it so pretty much as we bought it.
Anyway on plugging all the leads into the back i noticed a small scratch on the back of the unit probably made accidentally by a screwdriver?????
Where do i stand with this? Ive already complained to Hugh Harvey MD for comet regarding the useless info both the call center and the engineers gave us leading to the fault happening.
The tv was bought early November 2009
Cheers in advance

What do you want from the outcome?
The reason I ask is that for a scratch you may get an apology at best and if it is at the back to be honest I would just leave it and not start the hassle at allAlways ask ACAS0 -
Well after the tv getting the fault after their advice and coming back the way it did, im far from happy. Spend best part of £600, keep it in good condition and they scratch it, thats far from acceptable. Im calling the MD's office Tuesday and see what i can get from them, certainly wont accept an apology.0

!!!!!!, you yourself say its a small scratch on the back.
You are coming over as a greedy, pompous pedant
Get a life !!!!!!.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You've still not told me what you want though as an outcome, once you have that in mind you have a better chance of getting it rather than going in there ranting and raving
As you say its a small scratch and a I said not worth the hassle you'll have if it isn't affecting performaceAlways ask ACAS0 -

Get a grip..of some polish....try some! Are you a Master Baker?0 -
You say the fault was caused because Comet told you to leave it on overnight!
Why did you ring them? or are you saying they just rang you out of the blue and told you to leave it on??
You mention TWICE that the fault was caused by them giving you information...
With a little scratch on the back of the TV, I can't believe you would put up with even turning it on!! that's gross, and must severely hamper your televisual entertainment.
You really should get a complete refund, at least £100 compensation and another £50 for 36hrs of electricity used.
You should either get all that lot.... or just get a life.0 -
Should we all expect laser guided screwdriver precision...no marks at all? Sorry that's not in the real world. Take it Court OP....come back and tell us you were wronged and it was dismissed!0

Leaving the TV on overnight would not leave it with a dead pixel any more than normal use - iirc the reason they probably suggested leaving it on overnight was because (from memory) some displays take a while to warm up/settle down properly after first use, and any faults are most likely to become apparent in fairly short order (Ie first few days of normal use).
re the mark on the back, given that any attempt to open any device held together with screws risks leaving a mark (depending on the actual finish possibly without even any pressure being applied), and that it's out of site, and very minor by the sounds of it, I doubt you've got much of a leg to stand on.
If i'm honest, I'm surprised they even took it back for a single dead pixel, unless the manufacturer is one of the few that offers a zero dead pixel warranty (normally only on more expensive displays) - especially as there is pretty much no way for a repair tech to fix most dead pixels (it's normally a case of replacing the entire screen, so cheaper for a swap out).0 -

Hopefully when learning to speak he learnt the words off and sod!0 -

He might be able to claim compensation from his parents for his complete lack of brain and life!
Op, start another thread asking how to sue your parents. You have bad (greedy compensation seeking) genes!
Because you've inherited those genes from your parents you should feel quite motivated to sue them!0
