Can you explain what process you used to remove MS Office? Doing that should not remove your web browser or your documents folder.

Hi macman, I went into Control Panel Install/Uninstall programmes and clicked on Microsoft Office Professional Plus and uninstalled it, then re-booted pc as requested on screen.

Found documents, etc okay as when I click on the "start" symbol to open up the programmes, it lists all of them and at the side there is another list headed up with username and all the files that relate to that user also option to log off, etc. By clicking on "My Pictures", etc under the username that is shown it allows access to folders with pics, etc.

Screen gave up message saying that browsers were not installed, then there was a choice which we selected from. Haven't a clue if that was required or not?

I think the 'browser missing' issue is a result of the recent Windows Update that requires them to offer you a choice of browsers rather than using IE by default. It's nothing to do with uninstalling Office, just a coincidence. Choose Firefox or Chrome as your default and all will be fine. Do not try to remove IE though.

Thanks macman, good to know it is nothing to do with uninstalling Office. Will keep IE as suggested.

Glad you seem to have sorted this yourself. Do you have any friends or family that might be able to sit down with you and show you around?

I would appreciate any advice on how to, in simple easy terms, transfer everything that is in MS Office Suite to openofficeorg?

For those of you that have read previous threads, we've decided in the meantime to opt for oppenoffice org instead of purchasing another Office Suite.

Forgive me, but since you don't seem to have used Office to its fullest extent.....

Why do you think you should purchase 'another' Office suite? (Maybe I should read the previous threads....)

Just did. Why do need Office 2010 in preference to Office 2007?
