  • Congratulations! I'm glad I was wrong!

Don't forget postcards for friends/neighbours/relatives/etc to let them know your new address!

Add 'all your friends' to your list of people to notify ... :rotfl:

If your son has a bus pass for school, you need to tell them, or next year's pass will be posted to the old address (and redirect isn't foolproof!)

If he doesn't currently currently have a bus pass, and he's staying at his current school, he may now be eligible - 3 miles. Definitely worth asking.

    thats on the list

I hate to be the little black rain cloud, but being in band 2 doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a reasonable offer within weeks. It could still be a rather long time.

I agree Jojo my son is disabled we were also moved up a band through the help of the hospital still took us 12 months too get our house

Oh what a mentally draining day i feel so ill.

Have spent about 4 hours this morning with the phone glued to my ear whilst i tried to call as many people on my list. Started to feel ill, but realised i still needed to go and vote.

trying to get quotes for moving company and only one bothered to call back (need 3 for social fund)
carpets well carpetwright wanted me to go in chose what i wanted then they would send someone next week maybe.. explained bit rushed disabled so she said chose on line ring back tomorrow maybe Saturday someone can come round, looked on line found what i wanted that was not expensive but was hardwareing. man comming Saturday for free measure and quote..

then i have to take measurements and find 2 other carpets shops for quote.
try find 2 more moving companies get paperwork sent off to social fund but that can take 6 weeks, i have only 4 before i have to hand keys back to council and get out of present property, can't move much to new home because carpets are needed first.

Moving and stress is bad as it is.

Mupette, sorry to hear about all the stress, I'm afraid I'm not suprised, but having to get 3 quotes for everything must be a nightmare.

Can your son and his mates help with measuring up and any other practical stuff?

yes i took one of my friends down yesterday to measure all the windows, but he said my tape measure was carp for the floor.

The he measured all the spaces where the kitchen appliances were going and worried me when he said my cooker, wm and ff wouldn't fit, came home measured them and sighed with relief when they would.

you can tell i am tired

It;s communtiy care grant i am appling for and it does not ask for 3 quotes for each item.

do you think they will be happy for one quote per item?

  • It's always useful to have more than one quote, as one company could give you a high price, assuming you will get a grant, but if there's competition, they might be cheaper.

I'd suggest calling the CCG people and asking them. They're usually pretty quick for these sort of claims.

Must be over 5 years on band two here now. Sigh. Oh well, I don't need to wash, apparently it's not important to my council.
