 I ordered online via Tesco direct on 30th March a large reclining sofa and chair. I received confirmation of the order and money went off debit card.
I then received a text yesterday saying delivery between 11 and 1 today, so duly got rid of my old furniture to make way for the new.
Delivery driver rang me just after 11.30 to say they would be here within the hour and asked if I was aware part of my order was missing, I said no and asked what part. He said I had ordered 2 sofas, I said no, sofa and chair and was assured they had these and the notes on his sheet must be wrong as they had had a problem with someone else's delivery today as well.
Delivery duly turned up and everything was brought in. I had the chair but only 2 seats of the 3 seater sofa. The other seat and the end part was missing. I rang Tesco who said all I could do was send it back for refund or ask for replacement but the sofa was now out of stock.
I sent everything back and then rang Tesco again as I wasn't happy with the way the gentleman spoke to me and asked for them to investigate what happened to the rest of the sofa with a view to getting it re delivered. I was promised a call back from the courier, received no phone call. An hour later head office rang again to see if I had heard and then rang the courier for me who said that the investigation was closed as the order had been cancelled and money refunded. aargh!!! the first guy I spoke to just cancelled the order.
I am now told that the refund will take 3-5 working days to go back on my card which means I have no funds at the moment to go and buy more furniture (the order was for £700 so not a small amount). I am disabled and suffer with my back and have nothing but garden loungers to sit on for the next week. Managed to get Tesco to agree to a £50 good will gesture but that was it.
What has really annoyed me is that they obviously knew there was a problem when the lorry was loaded, why did they not ring me then. Why try and deliver half a sofa, as if I am going to accept that.
Sorry for long post but I am fuming about this and it has put me off using Tesco direct again.

You might have had a lucky escape. We ordered two leather sofas from Tesco. After two months of normal household use, the seat cushions started to shred and holes appeared. After a fight, Tesco eventually sent out an independant technician.
He had a look at the sofa and said the seats were made of split leather. This is all the scraps of leather ground up and pressed back into fabric. It's not strong or hardwearing and it's usually only used on sofa backs and sides where it's not going to get any wear. To illustrate he poked the seat with his finger, and his finger went straight through the leather
Rejected them as not fit for purpose. Tesco collected them, then I had to wait for my refund. I then had to go through the order process with another company who had a three month delivery as they manufacturer to order, so we had to sit on garden chairs for three months. Tesco refused to give us anything for the inconvenience so you've done well to get the £50 they gave you. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Blimey that sounds awful. Glad now that the sofa is out of stock. Have seen a nice leather sofa and chair through Argos which has good reviews.
I think I will order those one the money hits my card.0 -
Try and find out what the Argos one is made of.
I read up about leather and frame structure before I bought, and did a lot of research. Ended up buying a Thomas Lloyd sofa from https://www.sofasofa.co.uk as it's quality leather and an excellent frame structure. It was worth the wait and it's really comfy. Here I go again on my own....0
