Any chance you could start that world takeover now please!!!
Seriously though, I am in total shock at reading about this, and I agree that we are all very apathetic, but what should we do? In my case, I will be emailing my local MP, my MSP and anyone else I can think of to voice my opposition to this policy. What are they trying to achieve here? Save a few million quid or what?
Oh how I hate politics, but sometimes you just HAVE TO get involved and speak out. Any advice FW?Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

I think we may need to take this one to the other side.
Will be thinking over night.

This forms part of the Welfare Reform Bill and it has indeed, reached the House of Lords Committee Stage following its first two readings. It is therefore more appropriate to lobby Lords rather than MPs as MPs have already voted on this. Would seem that the period of consultation at the committee stage in Commons went through There is also a piece in the Guardian. There are many things in this bill that will affect lots of different people. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Trust me to open my mouth and talk rubbish! Didn't even know about it until FW mentioned it tonight, so had no idea it had already been passed by MP's. Probably best if I just shut up.Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

Nope, on this you are wrong. The best thing is to do something - to be with the Lords this should have passed through Parliament in early Summer (guessing but will check). If I am right this is classic under-play technique.

Not only has it seemingly been kept under the radar but letters have been sent out, according to the BBC report despite the fact that it is not yet law.
I doubted the accuracy of your report and checked it - it just seemed so unlikely and stupid. Apparently 'Terminally-ill people with less than six months to live will not be affected by the changes.' - but the medics get that wrong quite often.
I agree with FW that it probably needs to go to the other side - but it needs to be publicized over here too -just think of the number of people it would reach on here. Is this the sort of thing Martin would speak or write about?
If anyone wants to contact a member of the House of Lords, this site will help.. Peers are not provided with offices or secretaries so they have to sift through their own mail - that can take time.
For a start, I'm going to link the report to my facebook wall to help get word out.But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
It's terrible, isn't it... Writing letters and sending them before the bill has even passed is the kind of big-headed complacency guaranteed to annoy the Lords. However, the government's 'listening exercise' made sure that this bill passed and there are lots of controversial things in it. Well done on being on the case. I am not on the other side but will be more than happy to contact my local MP if necessary.
Ladies is it possible to ask for some help? Sorry to hijack the thread. Everyone is nice on here. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle a bully? if so advice is needed on Startagain's thread. Urgently. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/47109141#Comment_47109141Thank you. swXAiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
The best way to handle a bully is to stand up to them - they are usually easy to scare so one doesn't even have to fight. Loss of fear before hand is advisable.

I agree. But I dont think SA is comfortable enough to try it yet.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220
