Phew! It was my turn to host book club this month, so a lot of work has gone into tidying and cooking. However a good time was had by all and the house looks neat as a new pin. I had forgotten how nice it can be. A reasonably good day's writing was done, so tonight at least I go to bed satisfied. Things are good, and getting better. I wanted to share this nice project called the Animator Letters Project where an aspiring animation student wrote to some people in industry and they wrote him back some powerful letters. Pure motivation! I like especially the one called 'Persist'.

Hope you have a great trip FW. Hi SW, hope you are feeling okay :)

  • Hello. I have been away for 2 days as a self imposed form of punishment. I am back now and i will be positive and not let anything upset me. I am a dork sometimes but I feel happy again.

I agree wholeheartedly with claudiac about the banks. The reason for their very existence is to make money, nothing will get in the way of that.

Gosh FW you are doing so much and well done OH for the ironing. Bless you and have a good trip.

Aiming High, very good name indeed. Yes we can talk - our mission here is to keep the level of thinking and talking but also start doing more.

You are very welcome here - we are a decent bunch of people. Whether lurk or post is your choice - but it is good to share and discuss.

Thank you. I do hope to post in the future. At the moment I'm still digesting the thoughts provoked on this thread and working through your blog. :)

Hi guys, a completely mixed bag here. Conference is great, our work (the very complex one where I lead a team developing new methodology) has been very well received (let's just say that I was offered a special issue of a journal when others have to beg); I have still to present the more theoretical piece I have worked on etc. So, intellectually and socially (OH said that all my scholar friends are here so who is in Europe...) all is fine.

The bad news is that I confidently thought that all is well with my leg and I can be a bit more careless with it. It punished me lsta night by looking really swolen and red (and itchy) which scared the hell out of me. Getting myself in hospital in the US is not part of the plan and there is 9 hours flight ahead of me. This morning thing look a bit better but today I'll listen to very few things and the rest of the day will be spend in bed or walking.

Get the leg checked out - especially with that flight ahead of you.

I agree with Hypno. With a 9 hour flight ahead it is best to be cautious. If it is the scar that is itchy that is a normal part of the healing process. When I had surgery on my foot and leg I could quite easily have scratched it to bleeding point sometimes and the Dr said that was normal. Try some kind of gentle cream like Sudocream on it if it is the scar as that will ease the itching by moisturising it. Be careful it isnt anything perfumed though as that will make it worse.
