    Interesting dya, today, I did:

    Run
    Mop bathrooms
    Do washing
    Cooked soup and

went to the cinema with Little Boy. We saw Tangled and at first he thought that it will be a babish girly movie. It was neither - in fact it was really funny. Also, we thinkwe saw Rio Ferdinant at the cinema - and it doesn't matter whether it is true because I have one very happy Little Boy here.

I had a similar day, we went to see Tangled too. In 2D, I'm sure 3D was better though I'd much rather have seen Gulliver's Travels as I love Jack Black!

I saw your post on the running thread about the Garmin. The jury's still out for me I'm afraid. It's a chore waiting for the satelites to load, today I didn't do that for the correct amount of time (too cold, as you have to stand outside away from tall buildings!) so therefore it couldn't give me my distance or total calories burnt.

There is a handbook which I don't have the patience to read, but apparently it does tell you where you are and how to get home - which I think is what you wanted to know.
I'm not using it to it's full potential, so as I say the jury's out. Hope that helps :o

It is the end of the month so I’ll do a brief overview of finances again. Last month we did rather well despite of it being January. Our budget was perfectly balanced and included paying the car insurance. Also it was a five week month and usually a very expensive one. However, last month we did not transfer 10% to the ‘do not touch’ account – this covered the car insurance. But we did transfer money in the ‘I am so worth it’ account and spent half of it – mostly on stuff for the skiing holiday. Little Boy has outgrown his, well everything, and I needed new skiing trousers having misplaced the old once. Did very well with Little Boys skiing attire – ALDI did skiing trousers and jacket set for £20 (and they are good ones as well).

My spreadsheet is saying that at this very moment the numbers are:

    Negative wealth – (-£27,373)
Do not touch account (except for investments) - £2,822
I am so worth it account - £428

I expect that the ‘do not touch’ account will be up to £5.500 soon – OH is expecting payment for some work he did last year (completed just before Christmas).

We will be OK, I am absolutely sure.

Now I think I’ll have to go to bed – still feeling tired form the gallivanting around Europe. On Wednesday I am off to Bristol to write with my friend and colleague. Need some energy. Need a haircut as well….

Hi Mac, and thanks for the feedback. I was meaning to tell you about the calories anyway. Sometime ago you mentioned that you ran and the Garmin told you you burned 800 cals. The millage you reported and the cals did not match. We burn between 100 and 120 cals per mile.

As to getting a Garmine - I am not convinced either. Unusual for a gadget freak like me but something is stopping me. Heart monitor should be used more often, I think. Shall see.

Last night, oh dear, last night…OK, let me start from the beginning. Last night we were sitting, watching a bit of Silent Witness (pity they killed Harry, I probably watched the programme because of him) when the first pang of panic crept in. Just a fleeting thought, rushing through my head. ‘I have to so much to do; how am I going to finish it all…’. At the thought I felt heat rising through me and settling in my cheeks, bright and burning.

By the time I went to bed about an hour later mild panic was settling in. Reading in bed was hard; difficult to concentrate with all the stuff I have to finish between now and February, 17th playing chasing games through my head. By 1.30 there was nothing more to do but get up and stop worrying; by starting to work. I worked till 4.30, then slept between about 5.00 and 8.45 and then worked till about 18.10. By then I had chest pains, and neck ache and all sorts of things…But have managed to finish about a ton of work; if work were to be measured in weight this is.

And do you know what the silly thing is? Today, even though I am feeling rather tired and certainly not at my intellectually highest point, I managed to complete two of the jobs that looked and felt so big and scary last night. I know this one, it has happened before…So why do I allow my imagination to create big scary monsters of things that are certainly not hard – they just need doing.

Feeling completely exhausted now though. Probably I’ll watch a bit more Silent Witness and then go to bed. And tomorrow is another day (wind in my hair, green eyes blazing…)!

    The thought for today is:

“Knowledge has three degrees - opinion, science, illumination. The means or instrument of the first is sense; of the second, dialectic; of the third, intuition.” - Plotinus (204 - 270)

FW - Have you tried decathlon at all? it has excellent ski stuff and heart monitors etc.

Er, and I may need some running tips and tricks since I have a place in the Liverpool Marathon (on 9 Oct) and entries opened on 1 Feb. The furthest I have run is 10k and the last one of them I did was in 2009 ...

Welcome back NorthernLas. Did you have good time away?

Decathlon is a very favoured shop in this household - my ski trousers came from there and I was surprised that I did fit in them. Decathlon is a bit like Zara, I fifn, and everything is rather small.

As to the marathon - well done and will talk about tips. Have you thought of joining the runners thread?

Do you need to get things checked out at the Drs? You had that problem with your leg recently too.
  • How I envy those able to stick to exercising and an exercise regime. The shifts that I work and recent illnesses have laid me low, yet I know I need the exercise more than ever. I guess I am just a lazy so and so.
