Living together is a partnership and it takes 2 to run a home , Just my opinion and Im not a Mortgage advisor but to me that would be bad advice suggesting the bf buys solely in his name when the OP clearly has debt and money management problems.....

Firstly - it is not advice, it is a suggestion. There are no guarantees it would be possible.

Secondly - not being on the mortgage, does not prevent the second person from making their contribution to expenses.

Thirdly - agreed the OP has had money problems in the past, but the OP is addressing those issues now that she is aware of them and the correct route to take.

Ye particularly when it is obvious the OP is planning to live there...and the mortgage adviser should know if a sgl mortgage is to be based on 2 people living there lending would be reduced....or was someone going to suggest it would only be 1 person living there....rolls eyes...

V22 - you do make me laugh sometimes!

Have I said it should be based on a single application - No!

I know all about lending criteria thank you very much, and affordability calculators.

Do you know anything about the OPs specific situation - No! Neitehr do I.

Mine is a legitimate suggestion - why do you want to twist into something like a fraudulent application???

    Are you feeling happy today?

I'd be very wary about any opinions or suggestions that VIGILANT22 has.

Unfortunately he seems to be over every post like a rash dolling out his wisdom morning noon and night. To be honest, someone who joins in Jan 2010 and has made 2000 posts just likes the sound of their own voice.

Again, there is glaring misinformation and untruths in this thread.

There is every chance that you could acheive your goals, so speak to a broker recommended to you and take it from there. Not saying it will be easy but herbies suggestions makes more sense (and are more helpful) than anything VIGILANT22 has said.

    Regards

The CCJ for £6000 from 2008 which the OP hasn't paid off is not addressing the problem. The blindingly obvious solution is to pay off the debt, save so the OP can show the banks she is capable of managing money and TBH even a mortgage advisor should have given that advice firstly before suggesting her OH tried for a sole mortgage.

Have to agree to disagree on this one;)

I was not aware I had it until I checked my credit file. Anyway I will pay this off and endeavor to keep everything ticking over.

    Looks like not being aware

Looks like saying they will be paying it off - addressing the issue.

So a mortgage adviser would say - well done for tackling the issue.

The thing is - both suggestions could be right.

Another suggestion may come along and be equally valid - agreeing to disagree is all good in my book.

Trying to twist a perfectly valid suggestion, legitimate, and perfectly legal suggestion into something fraudulent is just bang out of order - but shows the true colours of V22 IMHO.

To be fair to Leon and Herbie they have stated they are mortgage advisors and have a vested interest . Im just an everyday Jo.......

I would just ad, its very easy to say "Im addressing debt" when there is a possiblity of buying a nice spanky new house but in the cold light of day when money is stretched its easy to just default and buy a nice new chavvy 52" plasma.....Be better to wait and see for 18 months IMO

I have no vested interest in what the OP does whatsoever.

But you are making judgements about the OP to back up your viewpoint.

Conversely the OP could well clear the debts asap, and be on the road to repairing their credit file.

Again, just depends on your viewpoint.
