Capital One CS = Useless!

in Credit cards
I Have been with Capital One now for about three years, as they were a stepping stone for me when I went through some financial difficulites and family problems.
The card was set at 29% Apr (ouch) and they asked for a £200 security deposit. They offered me a measily £200 limit, which was increased to £600 which it still is at to this present day. Im not complaining about this part though...
I called customer service numerous times in the past year saying I was un-happy with the interest rate on the card, and if it was more appealing I would probably use it more (hype only). The limit is pathetic to be honest, but as I said, it was needed at the time to get back into the driving seat of my finances. I am now working full-time, and have more than enough credit available to me via my bank. My plat LTSB card has £10k limit and is set at 14.9%. I tried to explain to Capital Ones CS people, but they listen as if it's going in one ear and out the other. There is no "friendly Service" and the dribble they speak sounds like they are reading from a text book!
Thing is, CS everytime tells me they can't help me up my limit, or... decrease the interest rate. The call center is in india and the guy told me "wait a year and see what turns up" :rotfl: I replied to him, "so you can't help me with a credit increase?" (CS guy) "no" (Me) "and you can't decrease my interest rate?" (CS guy) "no" (Me) "and I also can't make payments over the phone?" (CS guy) "no" (Me) "so tell me, what exactly CAN you do??" (CS guy) .....silence.
Ive now written to them cancelling my card and requesting the security deposit back. Explained also what I think of their so called Customer Service, and expecting me to send snail mail everytime I wish to contact them(which I have done, and hey presto gets lost!) is terrible in this day and age.
Has anyone else come across Capital One in this way, or is it just me?

Next time you call insist on being transferred to the U.K.
They will do so if you persist and you will probably get a friendlier responce.

Well....I don't think it is Indian call center problem. I have been dealing with my problem with C1 the last few days. I sent my direct debit application to them, because I wanted to change my bank. They cancelled my old direct debit and the new direct debit was not setted up on time to pay this month payment. So I was charged interest. I called three times to their customer service. The first two calls were to Indian call center, they read out something in a paper. The last call to a lady in the UK. Well, she was very good in English. She is English. So what? At first, she offered refund me half of the interest, I explained it was not my fault. Then she was very angry. She argued with me it was my fault and cut off my line at the end. I have sorted out the problem by writing message to them. At least, I have everything in writing. To be honest, I don't think they care about what customer service is.0

I have to agree with you 100% on this, I just don't think they care either. I hope it comes back on them sooner or later. Being customer friendly and getting satisfaction over the telephone gets my vote over anything.0 -

I second that.........Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
I have to agree, capital one issued me with one of those £200 pound limit cards around 4 years ago...I have gone over the limit a fair few times and have been charged by them left right and centre. They wrote to me and said that if I agree a payment plan with them they will freeze all charges. Great! I have stuck to this plan and getting the thing paid off. I received a letter from them yesterday saying 'sorry' we aint gonna be doing that anymore so wait for the charges next month. How is that responsible?! I have stuck to my part of the deal, their letter even said 'thanks' for your regualar payment!! ha...but we're gonna screw you anyway. The annoying thing is I was reading in the press a couple of weeks ago that cap1 had made a huge error in that they had failed to issue a few thousand customers that had taken out insurance with them FSA leaflets. Now these customers were due a refund which will cost cap1 up to 10 million, the article went onto say that cap1 would try to recoup the cost via other means!!! Yeah people like me by the looks of things!!!!!! It really does show how faceless thses big companies are, what's in your wallet! Not a cap1 one card that's what.
So I've decided now to cancel this card and take cap1 to court and apply for a full refund of all unfair charges over the last few years...I even said to the guy in india, you either sort this out for me or i'll apply for a full refund, to which he replied...'I am not sure how you mean this, we have no information' so i put the phone down!

You have my sympathies, but just to say I've been with Capital One now for about 4 years (Circle Card) and they've been first class. Can't remember ever speaking to an Indian Call centre, unlike AmEx Platinum. Now that's another story. . . .0

For a bit of instant "revenge" open a Capital One Base Beater savings account with £1 via Rpoints.com and get £10 worth of points. As the cashback comes from the merchant Capital One are effectively giving you £9 for nothing."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -

Its nice to hear a good side to a company, people are always quick to critisize, but never any good at complimenting.
I have to say i have never had a problem with them in the past, and if there is ever a language barrier i always ask to speak to someone in the uk, but they always deal with my stuff quickly and efficiently, although i pay my bills every month, have a direct debit setup-so i never get charged a late payment fee, and where possible pay the balance in full every month-so i guess i am an ideal customer.:)Henry James Born 18/03/2011-11 days late!:)
