City Link Couriers.

Options
As mentioned in a previous message re. CPW I have had the misfortune to experience the complete & utter incompetence of this company whilst waiting for a modem delivery from CPW.
Their 'service' has been appalling & I will now ask a company which courier they use before I order as I don't intend to use City Link ever again!!
Even their letter of apology was full of spelling mistakes!!!!

  • In past we had few bad experiences with city link, On one occasion paid next day delivery for some goods, waited full day for goods to be delivered ,no body showed up, when rang to ask, was told that ctiy link driver couldnot deliver due to no body was at home and he left a card, which was lie(since i was waiting all day) and nobody left any card. they are the worst courier i have ever had to deal with. i too ask companies what courier they use before ordering now.

I had similar bad experiences with City link on 2 occasions.

Now whenever i deal with any mail order company i ask who their courier is and if its City link i do not order from that mail order company and i tell them why.

Never had a problem with any other courier.

I hate city link too. Why any mail order company uses them is beyond me. They are so rigid in their delivery rules (won't leave outside, won't deliver more than twice) that it just gets ridiculous. And then their depots are so far from anywhere that if you don't have a car and you've missed their delivery then you're stuck with no options. Maybe if we all refuse to use city link any more then they'll go out of business!

If i order anything and it's being delivered by City Link i always budget an extra day for delivery as 99 times out of 100 they end up ******* up.

I've found Amtrak to be very reliable in the past.

    Regards

    Steve

Note from board guide: Please do not use spelling variations of swear words. The meaning is still the same and it can be offensive to others. Many thanks.

Can I respectfully request that mixing up letters in words to get round the naughty word blocker be forbidden as part of the T & C's of using the site. I've seen this kind of thing on other forums and before you know it, the site is riddled with them and it goes down hill fast.

    Thanks

    I beg to differ.

Since the 11th January DHL have failed 7 times to make contracted next day deliveries. They have mislaid 3 deliveries. They delivered someone else's goods to us. The deliveries they have managed to make have all been damaged and consequently rejected. We are still waiting for them to make an on time, good condition delivery. We fear we wait in vain. On the first occasion the delivery was late they had sub contracted. The goods were delivered in a tatty old white van. By chance, I was walking down the street when the van arrived and I saw how the boxes were handled. They were being thrown from one end of the van to the other! We had no choice but to keep some of the goods as we had run out, the delivery deadline not having been met. It was in that delivery that we discovered one parcel was missing and we had a parcel for next door instead. How he explained that he had missing goods for one line on his sheet I don't know.

Yes I agree Citylink are cr^p I've lost count of the number of complaints and run in's we've had with companies who use them.

Incidents include cards being shoved through the door when somebody in and when make a call 1min later refuses to turn around and come back, going to the depot 30 miles away to collect and one of the guys stands there scratching his head not knowing where to look for the package- didn't inspire much confidence when his colleagues also shrugged. Oh and next day turning up 3 days later.

We make a point of only purchasing from companies who don't use citylink.

Also a word of warning if I may, this is what will happen to your letters as well when Royal Mail gets privatised. I know RM are far from perfect and things have changed, but lessons need to be learnt from the pants couriers. You'll end up with an even worse letter delivery system in the long term .
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

I got home at lunchtime Monday to find a card through the door saying Citylink had tried to deliver ... would try again tomorrow. I rang the depot number and the operator contacted the driver. She then said the driver was still nearby and would be back in about ten minutes. Which he was.

    Maybe depends on the depot?
